Does anyone still use regular par cans for uplighting and are they happy with the results? Also for those who use LED, are the colors pretty much limitless if using a controller? Anyone have a good source for LED par cans that are at a reasonable price?

Thanks, Dean

I use Deliya par64 cans. $91 each and they work very well. A full-sized par64 can, so they're bulky but very bright. I also would look at the "Stallion" (Stage Ape can) from cheaplights.com. Not as bright, but very compact and about half the cost of my deliyas. I have one of those and I think Randy has a batch he's had luck with. You could have an entire set of 20 for for a grand.........

Yes, I love the Stallions. They now have the Stud light that is offered as more of a flood, but after testing them side-by-side, the Stallion is still the better choice. They are just as bright as a Chauvet Rain56, yet more durable and the bracket is plenty long enough for dmx access. You will have to create a base for them, but that's easy enough.

Again, don't comment about the ground post. It was a casuality of war.

Here is a sample of what they can do:

I would not recommend using regular par cans. Go LED. You won't have to worry about young hands getting burned or gels burning up and you'll have access to just about any color under the rainbow, pull very little power and can run all night without creating any heat.

I'll share,, Rain 56's from Ben at NLFX

Thanks Randy. :) I will say this about uplighting fixtures.... we have a "game changer" that we will unveil in August. Stay tuned. ;)

Ben

In high-school, we had a name for people like that....

TEASE!!!!
:sqlaugh:

Is it August yet?

Currently using an RGB fixture - the Omnisystem Par 56 LEDs - but do agree that RGBs have a shortcoming -with the whites, orange/amber colors.... :(

Here's a pic from a recent event:

Chuck, which model Bliss are you using there in the first photo? Would it hit a 60 foot high ceiling?

I have the Bliss 15 60' foot high? I would go with the Bliss 50... The dots would be fine, not sure about the blue cloud...

Ben can you give us a hint or preview of this "game changer?" I'm about to purchase some puck lights from you, but if there is something around the same price range that's better coming out in a month, I wonder if I should just wait.
