Don't hook a PC up to the internet and then you don't have to worry about updates or an anti-virus app unless your doing file transfers from other systems regularly.

I am transferring over the third computer as I type. This one is going to be the worst one..but so far so good.
I already am working on ridding the current dupes...which was approx 6000. But that should be done in like 1/2 hour.
I found a major interesting problem
My friend had a Looney Tunes Christmas song...and it gets to 33 sec..and f's my computer up for a bout three minutes. Sonufabitch.
I need to delete and trash that sucker asap.

My update. I had files on 2 different computers and a couple hard drives. Cleaned up all the dupes on my back up laptop. Then reformatted an external and copied all that to it. Then used SyncToy to echo every other hard drive to that main external. Once it was all done and that main external was where I wanted it dupe wise, I cleaned or reformatted all other hard drives and laptops and copied the external over.
I did find I made a few mistakes and lost some music, so I reloaded my last couple months worth of PrimeCuts weekly MP3 disc. I've also had to repurchase a few tunes from iTunes because I didn't have any back ups of all I bought from there. But all in all, I think it went well.

When the situation comes..we will do what we did in the past. Write it down, and either buy it that night...or buy it when we had internet.

Get a big enough external to hold all your music. Drag and drop all your music files over to it. You will be prompted for any duplicates tell it not to copy (to save time).
Next remove all your music from your libraries and copy everything over from the external to ~/Music.
Adam your iTunes library is stored at /Users/<user name>/Music/iTunes Library on the Mac. You can delete the directory to start new. Alternately you can create a new library by holding down the option key while launching iTunes.
In iTunes Advanced Options tell it not to copy music to the iTunes library and not to organize it.
@Sarge: You shouldn't of had to repurchase any songs you already purchased so long as you were signed in with the original account. That's how it works with Apps. iTunes won't let me pay a second time for an app should I delete it decide I want it again.

I dont know what in the heck happened...but many days ago.I moved some files in the old computer...and I cant drag and drop like I should be able to do.
So I am stuck taking 1000 files at a time..to the drive..and to the computer....deleting the drive..and repeat process.
Sometimes I can't even go through more than 500 songs at a time. I dont know what in the heck is goin on...all I know is it really sucks big time.
I called Apple Tech many days ago..and they couldnt figure it out over the phone either.
