I agree with Chuck here but only add that it is sticking close to Adams new Logo which keeps it uniform. Perhaps colors that are more wedding friendly even pink.

According to all those in the know including Martha Stewart... Pink is the hot new color for this years bride.

Adam, we are fairly close and in the almost 10 years in business and 14 as a DJ, this is how my typical wedding goes. It is tweaked for times but basically this is how 99% of them go unless they have a preference otherwise.

Thats how mine look but guest arrive at 5PM and Last song is 9:55PM

We generally go 5 hours max. So if I start at 6 then we go til 11.

Actually, I have 3 weddings this year that are 3PM to 8PM, I'll be home by 9:30PM

if your doing 8 hour weddings - you need to charge a LOT MORE!

This package should be worth $1100 or so in this area. But do I want to stay busy...or only do a gig here and there?

I have chosen to try to stay busy.

I have two wedding setups...so I'm going to hope I can double book as much as possible, because I actually make more this way still.

Me and another dj, as mentioned before...are working on raising our rates.

His exact same package is $1095..which I was going to do, but I decided I wanted to stay busy.

We are going to compare our next couple of month bookings, and either he will drop his price, or I will raise my price, based on reactions from our clients.

We might even meet in the middle. Me and this other guy decided (and I did not like this guy before..til now)..that we are both sick of being the nice guy for everyone, and not making what we should be making. So we are in the process of sticking to our guns, finding out what the market will bear, and going from there. We are both hoping that that market will bear $1095....and we definitely know $895 still might be a little tough...but we want to see what is going to work the best.

I was selling this package for $800, and I just have started to reach some resistance. So me putting a $1095 sticker on that package might have spelled doom for me.

He was selling his a la carte package for $600-$700 last year..so this is a huge increase for him. :sqeek:

Again, we will see what this market will bear. And we will price adjust from there. :sqwink:

Hmmm.... are you and this other DJ simply a commodity?

A commodity that can be compared.... must have similar qualities. Granted certain things can be compared but there is one thing that is very subjective and that is the end result of the performance. Because this is such a subjective judgement as to how well, or bad, the performance was can dictate subsquent gains or losses in business based on WOM. This will greatly affect the amount of additional business a DJ will get no matter what his/her price is.

Bottom line you are not comparing apple sales to apple sales.... I know this horse has been beatin to death here but it's true.

Yes...performance is the key.

But hey..bottom line...people will always says.."Well this dj charges xxxx amount"..........well....now we aren't at rock bottom prices trying to beat each other up.

Bottom line..more money in our pockets in the long run.

And I am more than willing to go head to head based on performance. *A LITTLE FYI: SOME PEOPLE HAVE BEEN BURNED BY HIM, AND THEY REALLY HATE THIS GUY!* Which *ahem* leaves me standing just a bit higher on the totem pole. And um *ahem* already gives me the upper hand.

So yea..not too worried about it. Basically I only raised my prices for the majestic wedding package.....$95. He nearly doubled his..do the math. Imagine how is new clients might react?

He is was what I call our karaoke king...now he is trying to tackle weddings....looking at the big price tag.....and this could be a good thing..or simply a mistake. I've seen his weddings...he should stick with being the karaoke king. :sqwink:

So..kinda rude of me to help brag him up talking to him on the phone..but he really feels like he is ready to jump up to the 2nd highest paid dj in the area...and go past me. I just know when I quoted a few people $1000...they didnt want nothing to do with it. At my $800 I am still doing alright and getting double bookings. The math is already figured pretty much.

So...I'd say..let him go for it...if he can book at those prices..then it gives me power to move on up.
