Actually, if the area inside is large enough with carpet, you can have a great time. The bubble juice doesn't hurt anything and can be shampooed very easily or it will dry within a few hours. I've moved 3 indoors this summer due to heat. Had a blast each time. I think you're putting to much emphasis on the bubbles for the party.

Thanks, Randy.

Went outside, their choice, inside would have been fine as the room was totally carpeted.

It was hot as bejesus, but they set up a wading pool and a sprinkler. The bubble man was soaked, though. The high humidity certainly lifted the bubbles to heights heretofore unseen by me, literally a mountain of bubbles!

Pretty cool......err, not the weather, the bubbles! :sqwink:

I am soooo jealous of you guys! Ha! :sqlaugh::sqlaugh::sqlaugh:

I want to be a bubble man badly!!!! It is right up my alley! Hell, I could kick the freakin' karaoke crap to the curb if I got enough bookings! (longer hours, less money, drunks, getting home at 2 am...ugh!) I think I will finally be able financially to pull the trigger by the end of the month.

I'd like to know a few things...nothing that will talk about Jon's plan....

Can everyone who has bought Jon's business plan tell me:

1. When did you purchase and start your Bubble business

2. When did you start marketing your Bubble business

3. How many parties have you done since you started and how many do you have coming up?

My big concern now is heading into fall....am I screwing myself starting this now? Keep in mind that I live in the NW so it's grey skies here 9 months of the year anyway. I'm also concerned about rain and how much that affects parties. I can see myself getting cancellations one after the other once November hits! What do you do in the winter?

1. April

2. 15 - 18... but several cancelled due to heart attack

3. about 5 more

Fall is a concern, BUT you can still book parties for a welcome to daycare session. I have a couple in early September.

Winter? Simple... I won't be doing them. My cutoff date is Oct. 15. I will start again April 15th.

Thanks papa....if I remember right, your bookings came on pretty quickly didn't they? After you started the marketing you weren't waiting a long time before the phone started ringing?

Do you think it's possible someone could continue bubble parties in a part of the country where the weather is fairly mild? I'm not looking for anyone to reveal secrets of the plan but I'll just ask it outright...is it possible to do them indoors?

Yes, my parties came almost immediately. I have had a slowdown in bookings for sure. I figure that most daycares already booked. As far as inside, well, I guess if they have carpet you can do them. I would still be concerned about the mess. I would think that the schools would, as well.

Concerning the inside with the carpet --- I only run half the bubbles as I would typically run with an outside show. Then, most bubbles get 'busted' by the kids before they even land. Don't get all caught up in producing 'all the bubbles'. The kids love the music and if you can put on a show, they'll really love it. In fact, I'm finding that the bubbles distract them, so making the changes from activities is alot easier without as many of them.

Like Papa, I'm holding these to seasonal availability. (Heck, I don't even advertise them any longer.) I'll be finishing up on Halloween with a large multi-daycare costume party!!

I mentioned in a thread before that I don't take photos at the daycares. I don't want any liability of any photos that would be placed on the web due to the ages of the children involved, so I don't even bring a camera.

I actually started this year with the bubble parties. I'm at work right now, so I can't say exactly how many I'll end up doing, but it will probably be around 30 this year....maybe more because I've had a few calls for some interest in some fall parties.

I didn't purchase John's plan, but developed a party of my own based off some feedback I read and just simply doing some homework on what the kids were listening to at that age. I have an advantage with my wife ownig a daycare for last 16 years and her involvement with the local licensing organizations. I don't advertise for the main reason that I don't want any of the local dj's starting this. I know, selfish.

My bubble machine --- http://www.americandj.com/product.asp?ProductIDNumber=1260&cat=Bubble_Machines. I run one for indoors, two for outdoors.

I've been reluctant in participating on these threads due to the fact that I don't use John's plan. I almost purchased it once just to add to my own parties, but didn't. I love the challenge of creating something I can call my own. I hope to pass this part of the business off to my son when he gets his license.

Thanks. Wow! Having your wife involved must be a huge advantage. Seems like the guys who really got the parties going have a daycare connection or at least kids that age.

I'd like to have the connection, but you guys can have the kids. :sqwink:

The ADJ Machine is similar to the Antari that I use as a backup.

Don't worry too much about other DJs finding out. Most of 'em here don't want any part of it.

I don't consider wanting to keep this to yourself selfish at all.

The main reason I got into the bubble business:

If you've read my website you'll see that I've been away from the biz for a couple of years. My old partner and I ran a rock solid venture for several years. Weddings were our bread-n-butter, with school contracts a close second. When my partner retired, I continued for awhile, but really didn't like doing things by myself. Now, my son has become very interested after doing a few parties last fall for some friends. That's about the time I heard about these 'bubble parties'....did my research, put a party together and my son and I started working our performance. This spring and summer (and now fall) we've been doing them. So, a few weeks ago, we officially announced the rebirth of Party Tunes Dj Service. My partner and I made it seem like a job, becaue we got so focused on making the biz huge. That's not the direction I'm taking now. We're (my son and I) going to do 'fun' parties. Keeping it simple and just enjoying ourselves, while putting some C-notes in the pocket. :)

Sorry for the highjack.

No hijack. Wish my kids had gotten and stayed interested. Mostly grown now. Good luck with that.

Thanks for sharing....I'm doing bubbles because weddings took a dive this year and I don't feel like slugging karaoke into any more bars for weekday cash. Plus, I've always loved performing for kids.

Nice to hear from another.... how shall I say this delicately...."seasoned" performer! :sqwink:

My wife and I are considering the bubble business right now. When we do it it will be completly her show after the first few. Ill have to learn the business to be the backup guy

Boy I could use Jon's wisdom right now....(Hope you're feeling better Jon!)

Is it everyone consensus that starting to market at this time of the year is not wise and I should wait until spring? I'll still end up buying the business plan now but I'm wondering if my advertising/marketing dollar will fall on deaf ears with fall approaching.

fyi - for people that don't know our area very well. It will usually stay quite nice and non-rainy from now to almost through the entire month of October. We don't get much snow but it will get windy and rainy starting in November. It really doesn't rain as much here as people think it does...(Houston Tx gets more rain then Seattle! LOL) but I hate to market this if the timing is poor.....
