Wouldn't that become a pain after a couple of them? I'm not sure I would be too excited to get cancelled and go through the hassle of rebooking because of weather. But then again I'm in Canada where we only get 4 days of summer :sqwink:

Do you still get paid for the original event Chuck?

Jeff, I didn't have any rained out. I did have many cancelled with my heart problems...

I don't take deposits from daycares. So, when I did the party, I got paid. But this isn't a huge deal for me, as I only do these parties before I go to my FT job. And, in PA, we had a drought this year. Very few rainy days before last week.

Bubble DJs:

I have a couple cases of UV (blacklite) reactive bubble fluid and a full size (adult) true quality "Sponge-Bob" character costime if anyone wants to take them off my hands ??

I might like the SpongeBob costume.... send me a PM with details...

Why would it not be worth the effort? What do you do if you get rained out outdoors?

To clarify, I avoid doing indoor private parties at peoples homes. Nearly all my bookings are daycare centers. During the initial phone call we discuss indoor options so I know ahead of time what "plan B" is (either they have a carpeted room or we reschedule). This year I only had two events go to "plan B"...one moved indoors because of extreme heat (they had the perfect room for an indoor bubble party), and one rescheduled because of a bomb scare (in the district, not specifically at the daycare center).

Since my wife is a toddler teacher, she has a TON of ways to keep kids entertained during the day... I should write a book too!

Use several rolls of toilet paper and have teams of kids "mummy wrap" partners. Since each child will want to get "wrapped" this will use up at least 10 minutes of time and be a total blast for the kids. It will also give you time to dry the floor or mats.

Make sure to take a picture of every kid when wrapped, so mom will want one (moms will buy pictures of their kids in this situation... think about it!).

I have more!

How do you sell them? Do you have a printer with you? Burn an image to disc? Nice idea!

Great idea... bring a printer to the event (rather than e-mail the image, which was what I was thinking).

This would be an "up-sell" when offering the package. You could sell an instant "Bubble Party Photo Album" for a given price, or sell the images on the spot to who ever was interested.

Nice!

OK, if you belong to a Sam's Club.... check this out! It even has a carrying handle! Around the middle of the page.

Posted yesterday by Rob Peters on the Bubble Party forum (for people who have purchased the plan)...

"Hey everyone...

As I indicated in my last post, I met with John's wife last week. We sat, reminisced about John, and talked about the gratitude from all of you for your prayers, cards and support.

One of the things Patty and I also spoke about was this forum, the business plan and the Bubble Parties website. She felt it was appropriate that John's legacy continue, and asked me to take over running these aspects of the Bubble Party program.

Over the next few days and weeks, you may experience brief interruptions on this chat site and the Bubble Parties website as we transfer servers and accounts over to me.

I will work hard to continue John's committment to you as his customers!"

I was just about to post this information myself, as Rob told me this at our ADJA chapter meeting the other night. I am also sure that Rob plans to address this situation on one of the upcoming DJIS podcasts episodes.

I’m thinking about purchasing a bubble machine? What machine is working for you? I may be doing a kid festival in Feb. Looking to promote my kid party packages.

I'm trying something new this year for both bubble parties and my wedding business. I'm going to use www.winkflash.com to make postcards. I'll be mailing out the bubble party stuff in the next few weeks.

For my wedding side, I am going to set up my Bose and make the setup look as ABSOLUTELY "clean" as possible. I'll put my web address and phone number ONLY on the front, and have all the info printed on the back.

For bubble parties, I'll do the same, but be a lot more "playful" in the design.

Not bashing, I got Peter's book right away and the concepts have already helped me in weddings this year. I really think he would nail it the first time.

Say hello to your girlfriend, Dawg! :sqlaugh::sqlaugh::sqlaugh:

Rick

I have this book and Love it,

I'll still be at $195 for 2008 for daycares. But I am bumping up to a $275 minimum for private parties..... I'm also trying to get 2 hour parties, that include many other activities... I hope to get $350 or $375 for that.

Or not. I am meeting some resistance at $275 for a 1 hour party for private parties. $250 seems to be the "magic" number.

Okay Bubblers,

I was thinking about activities to play regarding bubble parties. I need feedback on this game:

Pass out animal hand puppets to the kids. Play “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” and have the kids eat the bubbles with the hand puppets. The kids are only allowed to eat the bubbles that come to them. Oriental Trading has animal hand puppets in stock. $14.95 per dozen. Trying to come up with other games for the summer.

I will be doing the chicken dance which I'm sure is a usual for everyone. I have the chicken hats but with so many kids having lice you can't share them from party to party. So, in anticipation of the event I'll ask the teachers to have the kids make their own Chicken Hats that they can wear.

This will give the kids something to look forward to and an activity for the school.

When I was a full time firefighter I use to handle all the education classes for the community. I was a Student Awareness of Fire Education (SAFE) educator. I would set up school tours, pre-school visits, education classes, etc. The week of our arrival to the pre-schools and K classes the teachers would have the kids make their own fire helmets and badges, then wear them when we arrived. So I think the chicken hat thing might work also.

My next project someday is to create a fire safety program and market it to the local fire departments. Most guys go on a school visit but don't know what to teach the kids and make it fun at the same time. A few years back I created and performed a complete 45min stage. It had Sparky, A firefighter in full gear, smoke, music, lights, fun, etc. It was a high energy exciting show and the kids learned all about fire safety at the same time. Now to write a plan for it!

You need to find out more about the procurement procedures that are in place for your target clients.

If expenditures of $250 or less can be approved at the department level then the sale is very simple.

If at $251 or more a purchase order must be approved by the superitendent or franchise you're going to find a cooler response due to the increased scrutiny.
