So the new technology will make for another bootleg DJ?

I would certainly consider it as a quick fix as a backup. Tho I have multiple backups within my rig this would be a great backup if your Denon 6000 had issues. Slap this in quickly and not even miss a second beat. I also remember from where I came from. Starting out my gear wasnt anywhere as sophisticated as this numark in its own simplicity.

That's what my partner thought as he considered buying one of these. For me i would look a step up from that fro s bsckup.

I just wonder how many will start out with such an item and then realize quickly that they need to seriously upgrade their gear so that their performance will be better and people will take them more seriously.

I do get it that for some this is just a way to make some extra pocket change and that's where they are at and don't care to make improvements to get better pay and a lot more respect. That's their choice. I just hate when a lot of clients will see us as all the same. Some just see us as someone will be there just pushing a button and playing music. For the ones that take this more seriously it's more to it then that for us. Let me keep it on me. It's more to it for me then just simply pushing play. I seriously worry about if the client and the people that attend the event are having a good time with me being the entertainment. I know you can't please every client and crowd but i do my best to make 99% of the clients and their guest happy.

I used a pair of Mackie SRM 450s and a Numark Mix 2 for four years in Vancouver. I used alot worse working for the multi op b4 that. Mix your looking at it all wrong. Just because you have industry leading gear or home made junk it doesnt make for professional performance. The DJ who can work with this tool and transform the event to another level is a keeper. I have beyond top quality gear for the most part but I worked hard gave great performance and customer satisfaction kept myself very busy so I could buy my dream setup. In the end with Facades and skirting etc most wont be able to determine my setup to the one shown here. I prefer amazing sound quality howevewr I deliver it is pretty much personal choice as the clients arent knowledged in such areas. If you use a laptop which I do then the vehicle to getting that sound to a porper sounding system has such little bearing on the end results if you bring the show. WALDO?

If the $50.00 DJ was a real threat the $1500-10000+ DJ's down here would've gone the route of the dinosaurs many years ago. Some people pay the $50.00 DJ and then regret their choice, some will be happy but the majority of those have no clue how to run and maintain a proper business.

I understand you clearly. I just know that i like using high professional quality DJ equipment. It took me time to learn the difference and why i should spend the extra money on such equipment. I also like that stuff because it makes my job much easier and i know it will last longer too.

With that being said i've had times when i too didn't have my own gear to use at times and because of my knowledge at DJing i made it work. Once i was told i was doing a better job then the DJ in the main big room. That lady just don't know the difficult job i was having but i made it work.

I understand someone just starting out don't know a whole lot about DJing and don't have a lot of money to spend will buy low end cheap equipment. Also will charge not a whole lot in the beginning but my experience is as you learn more about the business of DJing you should improve on your gear and what you charge. I also understand that for some DJing is a God given talent and for others they should have never got started at DJing.

On a recent trip to Sams Club I nearly pi$$ed myself laughing when I saw the "PROFESSIONAL DJ System In A Box" being sold! Two odd named 15" powered speakers (which actually looked to be decently built) on sticks, a mic, headphones, a small CD/mp3 mixer and one awful little LED light that looked like a dual ADJ Gem type. I think the whole kit was selling for something like $900.

I'm leaving the house in a few just to see this setup you're talking about. There's a Sams Club not too far away from where i live. It's in Linden, NJ and i live in East Orange.

Actually that doesn't look bad for a starter system. Of course you or i wouldn't buy this but for a DJ just starting out i think this would do fine for a start. Then as they learn if they plan to stay in this business they will look for better. I would recommend this for a DJ that's just starting out for these reasons. It doesn't cost a whole lot so if they decide that DJing isn't for them they won't have spent a ton of money on equipment and really be caught in a bind looking at who they will be selling the equipment to.

COme on dude this is a piece of garbage it isnt even a controller. That numark works with Virtual or any of the software that recognizes Numark. The unit at Sams is actually 1200 dollars not cheap for what it is in reality. I wont recommend it unless I have seen it in person and touched it in a play like effort.

I looked at it fairly closely. For the most part...it is garbage. Tinny sounding, throw away crap that would not withstand legit gigging. The mic and headset looked like the best built part of the entire rig. Was not able to get a close look at the speakers, as they were elevated well out of reach. The in-store price is $900. Frankly, they will have to give this stuff away if they expect to see it move.

Remember what i said. For a beginner just starting out learning how to DJ it would do for them. Notice it's a dual cd player which you would need the disc and box setup if you were using a laptop. Don't forget some DJs still use cd's. A friend of mine still does. Not every DJ is computer based.

Yes to us true professionals it's crap in a box but i was talking about a beginner using this. Hell the speakers i just bought cost more then that whole system.

That system can be used in the bedroom to practice with to learn how to DJ.

most bedroom DJs cant afford a proper library of CDS yet has 100,000 MP3 files ya think they wil want this setup? NO!!! way Jose ADAM!!! Your argument or reply holds no merit.

Are you forgetting that there is such a thing as downloading music. I'll bet they aren't going to legal sites and paying for the music. They can find a site where they can get the music for free and either leave them in mp3 format or transfer them onto cd's to use.

Either way they can get the music the way they want it. Not all free sites to get music are shut down. When one gets shut down here comes another. They can't get everyone that is downloading free music can they? That would mean going to each household and confescating every computer in the house to see if it's legal or not.

I can't see any beginning DJ these days going with a CD based system unless they already own a big collection.

It's much easier to get low grade equipment and a hard drive filled with music - which is the basis for this thread.

Agreed that they can't get everyone. As for going to every household, that's too much work. They'll just tag some mp3 files and put them out there so everytime it is downloaded or uploaded it sends them an alert (that's how they've caught downloaders before).

That sort of fishing is only going to trap a few. Practically every single media file on the web can be grabbed by multiple means. Also, most of the shared files come from outside the US. Let's not forget all the off-line swapping that goes on. So, unless the US internet becomes communist Russia, you won't even put a chip in the paint.

IMO, the piracy issue is just a red herring for the government to gain control over what is done on the web.

I think at the end of the day, it's nice to see something with some teeth to it (like Rick said) but not at the sacrifice of our freedoms. Basically the whole piracy bit is just another problem that the government and the media industry (especially these guys) don't want to actually resolve because it's too complicated.

Its like the mom who allows the kid to go unbridled from birth and then suddenly lays down law at age 11.Had the mother set guidelines and methods to counter the behavior from the start chances for success more likely would have been gained. Had the music industry embraced technology and harnessed the movement ir would have never gotten to this point. Most likely the DJ industry wouldnt have became such an easy avenue for 10000s who have music libraries exceeding most legit owners of the media. The DJ gear suppliers are certainly not complaining. Mix you need to take a class. You have twisted this whole concept forty different ways. You make no sense one post to the next. Oh and The Yamaha speakers are decent entry level speakers nothing much more. They are QSC knock offs at a cheaper price. Not saying they are bad but they arent top of the line pro gear. Im saying this with no ill will.

To you those Yamaha DSR 115 speakers are entry level but i beg to differ. To you they aren't top of the line but i say they are great speakers that i plan to keep till i quit DJing. They sound great and kick butt to me.

I do understand that we can all have differences of opinions when it comes to equipment and i respect that. Another mans trash can be another mans treasure. I'll just say i'm proud of the purchase i made and it works for me for now. I'll give a report on them as i have a baby shower to do next Saturday. Which at that time i'll be taking pictures and video at that event to put up on the brand new website coming as soon as possible.

Don't take this in the wrong way please Jon. What speakers are you using? I would love to check them out online.
