Do you promote yourself at your Events, even subtly like introducing yourself as Host/DJ/Entertainer/MC for the evening?

Do you wear apparel with your Logo on it?

Does your Facade/Tabletop have a Logo on it?

Do you have Business cards in a Holder at your Booth available for anyone to take?

If not why not?

Please be respectful of others decisions. You may state what you do and not do and the reasons why you do or don't do. It does not mean that what someone else does or not do is wrong.

introducing yourself as Host/DJ/Entertainer/MC for the evening?

Nope, it just doesn't really feel right in most cases. Besides, if someone really can't tell who you are (the DJ) and what you're doing at the event, then they're not really going to pay much attention to you in the first place.

Do you wear apparel with your Logo on it?

It depends on the event. We have our polo shirts with the company logo on it, but we only wear those to things like birthday parties, cookouts, etc. For weddings, we don't even own dress clothes with our logo on it. To me it detracts from the point of wearing a dress shirt.

Does your Facade/Tabletop have a Logo on it?

We don't have a facade, so that one is kind of a moot point. We do use black table skirting, but I'd never consider destroying it by getting something printed on it. Since we primarly do weddings, we really don't feel it's appropiate to advertise in that manner.

Do you have Business cards in a Holder at your Booth available for anyone to take?

We do keep a business card holder next to our rack. It's nice and small and blends in well with out setup.

If not why not?

It's just the way we think about weddings in general; it's not the place for a DJ to go splashing their name and logo all over. If someone really wants to know who you are, they'll either come and ask you or they'll ask the couple who just got married.

Since I started the thread, I will give my response to the questions. I will start with the Events I do the most and then other Events and the way I would/have handled them.

Clubs/Bars & Public Events.

......Hell yeah! I make sure my name is said, and invite people to take a business card.

Private Events,

.................... At the beginning of the Event and a few times during the Event I will introduce myself. there is a difference between introducing and advertising. I would say something like "Hi, My name is Joe Shyt The Ragbag and I will be your DJ for the night. If you have any appropriate requests I would be more than happy to play them for you providing I have them."
or
"Hi, My name is Joe Shyt The Ragbag and I will be your DJ for the night. On behalf of Mr. & Mrs John and Mary Rumdrinkers/XYZ Company/Organization, we would like to welcome you to X Event"

I also have a small scrolling LED Badge that is attached to my Facade and my Business Cards are in a visible not necessarily conspicuous spot. Some people may not want to interrupt me so they may not ask.

I introduce myself and my wife by name.

Do you wear apparel with your Logo on it?

Not at any private event. We do have polos that we wear at public events.

Does your Facade/Tabletop have a Logo on it?

No. If we are doing a public event, for example we do a lot of events for our local Chamber oc Commerce, we will hang our banner.

Do you have Business cards in a Holder at your Booth available for anyone to take?

Yes, we place one on each of our base speakers and also have some at our table.

If not why not?

Do you promote yourself at your Events, even subtly like introducing yourself as Host/DJ/Entertainer/MC for the evening? Yes.

Do you wear apparel with your Logo on it? Yes, small logo.

Does your Facade/Tabletop have a Logo on it? No, but maybe will. A small logo in the bottom corner.

Do you have Business cards in a Holder at your Booth available for anyone to take? No, in my shirt pocket as I'm asked for one often as I walk the room.

I introduce myself and my partner along with company name initially and then at the end of the night as we say our good-byes and thank the guests on behalf of the couple. Because standard dress in this area is slacks and a nice button shirt, we wear the same along with a tie that matches the wedding colors. Because we do wear the same button shirt/tie combo, the logo allows people to know who we are and not just two schmoes that are wearing the same shirt. We receive many compliments on our attire because we look so professional. Most vendors do the same here.

I don't call it promotion but yes, I give a formal introduction and tell the guests who I am. I stop short of inviting them to take a card. I do have a frontboard that has a small black placard with gold lettering that has my website on it. I do put biz cards at the corner of the table, in front of the frontboard. I do not do any other type of promotion while at the event.

I usually annouce my name at the beginning and the end of the event.
If I am working for the multi-op, I include their name as well.
I dont have a logo on my apparel or my setup,
but I do offer business cards at the DJ table.

Yes, I do so with my Welcome and in my Closing... it's important that your audience knows who you are so they can connect with you on a level that allows you to take them where ever you need to with the trust built by introducing yourself to them.

Do you wear apparel with your Logo on it? Yes, I wear a polo shirt during setup and tear down... during the event itself I wear appropriate attire for the event itself... this maintains my professional appearance from start to finish, which is important to me.

Does your Facade/Tabletop have a Logo on it? No

Do you have Business cards in a Holder at your Booth available for anyone to take? Of course, who wouldn't.... and I carry some in my pocket so while I'm working the audience if someone asks I can simply hand them one.

If not why not?

I introduce myself to the guests as Scott.

I don't say my company name over the mic.

I let the way I handle the event do all of my promoting. People come by and ask me for a card.

I believe I can attract more of the clients i'm looking for by me being what they are looking for, and not by them remembering my name because they heard it or saw it 100 times.

But that's just my opinion.
