I hope these folks have calculated how much revenue per table they need to make a profit.
Well, Wiz, I am not sure that they have. NYE for them was basically a failure - though, again, they are only open about 2 - 3 weeks, now. They charged $22.95 pp. They had approx. 50 customers all night, inc. takeout. So they grossed ~ $1200 - $1500. The buffet price did not include Naan Bread. That was a separate charge. And the place is BYOB.
They had 9 staff, including the 3 owners in attendance.
At midnight there was a total of 11 people in the restaurant. By 12:15 the place was empty. I was home by 12:50ish.
My final thoughts:
1. Would I do it again? Maybe. I would want gift cards, which they still do not have, but say they are getting. Smart idea. I still like the idea of trying to help establish a brand new non chain store local business.
2. Part of why I did this was in hoping that I might see some very local folks show up and see me as a DJ. I was literally about 1 mile from home. plus or minus.
3. I have spoken with the doctor twice now.... still no commitment on getting the 50th BD party. I am supposed to meet with him on Sunday.
4. These owners are a little nuts..... I charged them nearly nothing, yet they were not happy that I didn't beat match. I was using my netbook, and not my laptop ( where I have OtsAV ).... and was using rockit to DJ. Well, a mix of rockit and iTunes.
5. As opposed to the other night, when I got tips, tonight I didn't get any - not that I expected any.
6. They asked me if I wanted to DJ there twice a month for the next 3 months. I told them "no". They wanted to pay $125 a night for 3 hours.
So that is it. The great experiment is over, except for my family being able to go and eat for the next 6 months - IF THEY STAY IN BUSINESS THAT LONG. The one owner told me that they can afford to take 1 year to build up the business.... another owner told me they signed an 8 year lease! :yoohno:
