Agreed, Papa. Madonna cannot really be compared to Gaga.
First of all, Madonna opened the door for a lot of artists like Lady Gaga.
(sexy babe with an unusual name, who wears different clothing, writes her own music and works her butt off)
So Madonna was the innovator.
Secondly, the world of music is SO much different now.
Madonna began when the music industry still had classic songs, from classic artists, who wrote and performed their own music without the use of technology. There is no such thing as LONGEVITY in the music business, anymore.
The new plan is "get in, make your millions, get out".
(and maybe later...."try an acting career")
That being said, Gaga is more like Madonna than any other NEW artist out there.
Smart, talented, and a very hard worker.
Actually, I think it was Cher that opened the door for artists like Madonna first. Madonna capitalized on it, and GaGa (and to some extent Katy Perry) are just the current incarnation.
It's the "capital" I was referring to.
Cher opened the door as far as the music, Madonna opened the door for how she handled the industry and the business end!

People said the EXACT same things about Madonna when she first hit the scene. I too am a believer in Gaga. She is the real deal, imo.

It was a year or so ago...My predictions as with many; she won't be around at all in a few years.
Kylie Minogue is still around go figure. If Cher chose to release new material and went on another semi tour she would sell out. Even if Gaga stopped today she has built some longevity. Obviously not the same as the above mentioned but she is well on her way. As I predict she will be around alot longer. Several years ago a girl named Brittany Spears had a hit many thought would be her only one and she is still valid today tho a bit quiet at the moment.
Kylie Minogue would be much bigger than she is if it wern't for her battle with cancer that brought her career to a screaching halt for a few years.
