Mixers with built-in soundcards

My only real need for a controller is to have an easy to use, big, lit button to Start/Stop/Pause a song for 2 decks. It's also nice to have a cue point or loop function. Other than that, I agree the laptop is just as easy for pitch, etc.

Well I still don't get the drift of the controller thing. Can't you find the F1 key on your keyboard. Even with my bad eyes, I can find it.

As far as a built in sound card on the controller, you are putting all yer eggs in one basket -- if your controller dies, so goes your sound output. You could have 5 lappys, but if your controller/mixer/sound device goes down -- you're SOL.

Logic would presume that you have redundancy on all links of your chain from input to output. So, you would need two mixer/controllers/soundcards, in order to have redundancy.

BTW, the F5 key, is just to the right of the F4 key -- amazing how they came up with that...

But I would have to remember that F1 was play/pause left deck and F5 was the same for the right .. then would have to remember what controlled the others .. having a big button with a play symbol on it helps us geriatric types.

As for the sound card .. there's always a backup of going straight out of the laptop headphone jack. Lose dual outputs, but it works. I normally carry a Rane MP4S as a backup anyway, and it has 2 stereo channels of USB audio as well.

Using multiple software apps, it's easier to have the controller mapped. And who wants to use just one app?

Me -- and that's why I wrote it over the almost 14-15 years now. It can do almost anything you want -- but it won't do YOUR JOB -- that's up to you.

Go ask all the 15 million kids who use VDJ in their bedrooms. They make plugins, mappers and BS -- most don't use my software, because it requires a learning curve, and they have the IQ of a nat.

As I said before -- give me a call. or shoot me an email -- you paid, you get support. I'm older than you I believe, and why you feel the need for a large lighted button to press play, is beyond my pea brain...

The mapping isn't the issue ... I like it, but until it can read iTunes libraries and playlists, it will be a tough conversion for me. It just makes it easier for me to manage music in iTunes and then play it from the various apps (PCDJ, VDJ, Serato, and I wish, Rockit). I use it because I also sync my iPhone and iPad, which I use for simple gigs and as backup for others.

I don't use iTunes, but I assume they can export M3U playlists -- and RockIt can import them. Check the File menu on RockIt.

Houston, I like RockIt for it's simplicity and the fact that the font sizes are changeable on the fly.

VDJ is too complicated and flashy for my needs and the fonts are hard to change.

I like the 19MXR since it has the sound card and the basic controller functions.

But if it can't be mapped to RockIt, then I may need to go to a controller like the Mixdeck Express or the VMS series.

I'm a super VDJ fan! I've used it over 2 years now and love it. I don't get why it's so hard to use? It's easy as hell to me. I just don't care for the recording deature. I just like to use my Tascam CD recorder.

That's why some of us are smart enough to have more then one controller in case of an emergency like that. Thankfully I haven't had my Denon DN MC 6000 fail me yet. Other then when the plug wasn't pushed in all the way on the back of the controller. It also pays to buy top quality professional gear as it's less like to break down.

I have a Hercules RMX I might be willing to part with. The left pitch fader doesn't work, but otherwise it's great. Built in sound card.
