Skinnng question about rockit 4

I wasn't quite sure where to put this, but I had a question/challenge for everyone who knows more about skinning than I do.

Can anyone think of a way to play a random selection from a playlist and then assign it to an effects button?

Here's how I used it with my current music program.. I mostly run karaoke and all my regulars know me extremely well, so I like to tease most of them. To help me in this capacity I have a playlist/directory of clips from various sources I've labeled 'insults'. When I want to insult someone whom I know isn't offended, i pick a selection from that playlist.

I also have a playlist with various tv and musical themes that I will play if a person is taking a while to reach the stage.. My favourite is the jeapordy theme song.

i also have a playlist for random general funny comments, a playlist for current announcements and specials and a playlist for compliments as well.

If there was a way i could have an 'insult' button etc it would make the process a whole lot easier and faster..

thanks in advance

-James

Several options that I could see being used.

There are preset buttons that can be assigned any song/clip.

Or, there is an 'effects' player that you can use.

Or, maybe even the jukebox player, but I've not experimented with it yet.

Rick??

I'd either use the presets or the Effects Sampler as well.

The 8 presets, and the first 6 effects, are also available as controller commands too, which means you can just press a button on whatever MIDI controller you are using :)

You could also load the playlist into the jukebox, and select from there, or shuffle the list...

Sorry, phones been ringing all morning, and everytime I go to type something, it seems to ring again

It's like everybody waits till Friday to do support calls :sqerr:
Has everyone forgotten about Mon - Thurs...?

Friday's beer day! Think I need to put that on the website :sqlaugh:

Nah, new designers apparently...

Everybody has some advice to give me  :sqlaugh:

Actually, about 90+% of the calls I've gotten since 4 released, are about why they can't find certain buttons. I then have to explain that each skin is different, and may or may not have certain controls on them.

Doesn't matter what I put in the manual, or on the website -- nobody reads it :sqerr:

Damn commie DJs :sqlaugh:

I might become one of those disgruntled customers soon...now wouldn't that be something...:sqerr:

Damn Boss, you broke my pens -- God only knows what you'll do to the software :sqlaugh: :sqwink:

Rick - I've been playing with the demo for awhile now...The new skins make things much better.... Only one issue that I can't get past.....

I have my music library in genres (Sub folders). I search by genres.....I don't like tags.

What would be optimal is when you open the library, it trees...like explorer... so that if I want to view 50's 60's, that's what I see in the library pane....not every song...

I wonder if anyone else sees that as an issue?

Not here... I use proper taging....

Even with correct tagging (i.e. from I tunes or the cd, it would not give me the info I am used to.... I group my music in about 14 different sub folders......To try and tag 12000+ tracks to fit my criteria.... (current, 2000's, 90.s....disco, Easy, Classic Jazz...etc)...I don't have the time.

How would you set up say 1000 songs as dinner music...separately tag 1000 tracks?

I'm simply looking to replicate the Explorer tree in the library set up.

That seems a bit over complicated but if it's a system that works for you great... personally I don't need that much segragation if I can find music my genre, year, song title or artist I'm fine....

The only time I ever concerned myself with segragation via sub directories was the very very short time I was using PCDJ... U can still use those directory tree's just search using the My Computer window.... a bit combersome if ya ask me but it should work.

I've always sorted my music this way...just seemed easier for me.....when I want a country set, I browse country......disco....disco....

What do you do if you are in an 80's set and want to say pick 3 songs.....I find that browsing the 80's folder is easier for me than sorting by Year, which then doesn't segregate genre.....

I can use explorer in Rockit to do this, however, undesirable side effects....

Here's what I mean....
