I have recordable DVD's with a white surface on them so that you can safely write on them with markers. I have yet to find a CD version of that. Is there one, and if so, can you share the details?

I don't have a printer that handles CDs, or a lightscribe DVD.
 
I'll keep looking at that site Hank, but I haven't seen the ones that come with a write on surface, like I have with my DVDs. Everything I saw said, "silver top".

I had bought them somewhere local. Either walmart or office max.

But I guess it has been awhile so I do not know if they still have them or not.

I was at Office Depot and my wife was at Walmart... no luck...
 
I get mine from CDRom2go also -- they have everything :)

They have printable ones with white tops, which can be written on just dandy (I'm usually too lazy to print them anyway). BTW, don't use a regular pen, use a Sharpie, as the data is actually stored closer to the label side ;)

I write on the silver top ones as well.

Me too, but "they" say that eventually the ink will ruin the discs. Usually, my discs get scratched, so I don't know if I'll ever find that out, though.
 
I've purchased them at Best Buy...

I have an Epson printer that accepts discs and prints right on them.

I have many well over 10-12 years old, and they still work fine...

These have the white coating for using Sharpies? If so, then I have interest. Thanks, Travis.
 
I use sharpies on all my CD/DVRs! Haven't had any white ones. Haven't had any problems at all! Only issue I see is how neat the finished product ends up. White would look better, but it isn't necessary.

Well, the thinking is that Sharpie Ink will eventually eat into the disc, and destroy data.... that is what "they" say, anyway, hence my desire for these white coated discs.
 
Hewlett Packard, Memorex and Sony ALL make CDs that can be marked with Sharpies. Staples, K-Mart, Office Max, they're everywhere.. These are marked with designated lines (ie. "Title" or "Contents") and are very easy to find. Kinda confused about the question.
