Yeah, blame me. Everybody else does.![]()

You should really be blaming me...
I sell software for automated jukeboxes. The DJ builds the box, runs my software, and gets $200-400 for dropping it off and picking back up
Quite a few have already been rented out for homegrown weddings, and much cooler than an iPod, as the guests get to interact with a touchscreen, and program their own music. Easy way to make extra cash, and not lose the gig totally![]()

Can't blame you completely, but ya sure as hell ain't helpin' none.....![]()

Hey, I just write the software -- it's the DJs out there profiting the most from the product.
If one is not willing to adapt to the ever changing market -- one will fail...![]()
There is no adaptation to a self-serve market. When it becomes completely self-serve, those on this forum will be out of business.
I disagree, Joe. Don't hurt me! I think that at least many will overcome this. But I truly believe that it will not be by "educating" people; rather, it will be by actually being better than an iPod.
For example, Bobbie says, "Hey, Kimmie, I'm gonna save me a thong-load of money by having me an iPod wedding."
Kimmie says, "You go, girlfriend!"
Kimmie's sidekick, Robyn, says, "No way, shorty. No iPod can do what that Ducky DJ can do. Are you outta your mind, woman? Spend the cash, and have a real bash!"
What if you sell service, instead of selling yourself as "music"?
To re-word what I said: IF it goes SELF-SERVE... In other words self-serve means just that. No need for us. But in an earlier post I mentioned that DJ skills and services will ( in my hopeful opinion) win the day.
but he/she was definitely on the ice.
I see this as two separate markets -- one being the folks that want a DJ, one just wanting music. Why not attack from both angles, and make more money...?

1) the ipod people usually have very little budget to work with....so it's do we do it ourselves?...or can we find someone for $400?
2) i am just not seeing black tie affairs considering ipods as a viable option...picnics and super low budget weddings yes....which really is not my target market. I am not saying that we never do them, but it's certainly not my target.
