I wish I just hadn't done a major lighting upgrade --- I will be going to a Bose --- if for nothing else, it will make me different from the others in the area.

Echo happens from all speakers. When the source of the sound is 55 or more feet from a solid surface echo has to happen its physics. That being said where the L1s are a line array and an offset one at that there will be less of a "slapback effect" because the sound is distributed in slightly different directions
If you have a conventional system you can defeat echo with good EQ settings and a surplus of power

I don't really notce any,,, but I do mostly resort ballrooms, where there are few windows and almost no cement or hardwood walls which I think would be more of a problem..
