NOHTING happens after 930/end of events. NOTHING.
The same 10 people dance all night and one still shot of people dancing looks like a still shot of anyone else dancing.
I've always pushed wedding albums on brides - at one time every bride got one, no choice. It's now down to 80% get an album, And they get to choose 70 pictures.
Guess how many dancing pics they choose? 3 of the first dance, 1 or 2 of each parent. DONE.
I've never not once had a bride choose a general dance shot - the floor, grandma on teh floor, the bridal party - nothing,ever.
And I get shots of all that, slow dances, line, fast, ymca/chicken where a still shot does look a little different.
tell me those are not the pictures brides want, value, desire.
I've worked as a second shooter for some photogs that sell their service as 'bell to bell' and often work in shifts to make that happen - 9 am at the brides house till midnite at the hall. And they charge accordingly. Brides that spend $800 get what they pay for - just like with $300 dj/s.
I offer to stay - and in a decade had 2 choose to pay for it, had 2 pay for me start early "i want pictures of the hair being done" type thing.
And if the DJ can't stay on schedule I'll stay later. Sometimes it's the bride - been a few weddings where they show up late (90 minutes late a receptions is the record i've seen, and about 40 minutes to walking down the aisle). traffic or weather or waiting on grandma to get to the church an d such sometimes delays things.
But there are DJs that have no schedule, no clue, big ego's, etc. "I"m gonna do the first dance, 1/2 hour open dancing, then the garter" and they do 90 minutes of open dancing...and then the money dance for 45 more..THEN they get to the garter and bouqet at about 10 or 1030...
I've had a couple fo times the bride wants to keep to a tight budget and says 'i can only pay you to 8' and i explain about the events and she says 'no problem, don't stay for them'. Does she regret it that night? Perhaps.
it's always easy to throw the guy that aint there under the bus.
