I went ahead and ordered the new Bose F1 speakers on Monday and they arrived Tuesday. (Thank you Sweetwater)

All I can say is that Bose really outdid themselves this time. The boxes are beautiful and the sound is amazing. With 1000 watts PER cabinet, they really rock.

Quality performance

Engineered with a flexible array of eight high-output mid/high drivers, a high-powered 12-inch woofer, a lower crossover point and 1,000 watt amplifier, the loudspeaker delivers high SPL performance while maintaining vocal and midrange clarity that’s dramatically better than conventional loudspeakers.

How it works
The eight drivers on the F1 Model 812 Flexible Array loudspeaker are mounted on a specially designed flexible baffle. Simply push or pull the array into position to create four vertical coverage patterns: “Straight,” ”J,” “Reverse J” or “C.” Once set, the system automatically changes the EQ to maintain optimum tonal balance for each unique coverage pattern.

For extended bass
When you need more powerful bass, simply add the Bose F1 Subwoofer. It packs all the power of a larger bass box into a more compact design that’s easier to carry and fits in a car. A mounting stand for the loudspeaker is integrated right into the body of the subwoofer, so you always know where it is, making setup fast and easy. The stand even includes cable channels to neatly hide the wires.

The loudspeaker and subwoofer each have 1,000 watts of power, so you can fill nearly any venue with sound.

I heard them down at the DJExpo .. sounded very similar to the L1 Model 2. The adjustability is nice if you can use it .. seems a better fit for live sound work.

They do look cool.

I am very surprised to hear that. I A/B'd them and thought they sound completely different. My hearing is not what it once was, I am sure.

These have much better mids and low end that you can feel. At 2000 watts a side vs. 500 watts a side with the L1, the difference is quite noticeable.

I'll agree the mids are a little better (benefit of the upper 12"), but the other drivers are basically the same as in the L1. I didn't listen to the difference in the subs. They are a little more flexible in that you can use the top without the sub (something less advised with the L1).

Our resident expert Bose guy @Cap Capello posted these a while back ... Bose® L1® & Bose® F1® Demonstrations - 7 Video Series - YouTube

The subs are a game changer for sure. I would say that the subs are at least 10 times better than the B2.

I have known Cap forever. I tried to buy off of him but by the time he emailed me back, I had already made the purchase. I should have waited and purchased from him but his response went to my "other" folder in facebook so I didn't know he replied.

Gosh, and here I thought I was getting off cheap buying a new PA for $5k. My HK system was close to $12k. My EV system was nearly $6k.

What do you use that is so reasonably priced? My wife (accountant) would love to know.

$12K is probably way above the norm for a wedding system .. I'm guessing a "typical" system is roughly $1K per piece, so $4-$5K for 2 tops and 2 subs. $5K is what you'd spend on 2 L1 speakers, so pretty normal. Same price for a pair of EVOX 12s. My audiences are less than 200, so for me, a pair of EVOX 8s came in around $3K. My older large system (Yorkville Unity tops/subs + 3 QSC PLX2 amps) ran me around $7.5K.

I was not saying the cost was unreasonable - I meant exactly what I said, for $4796 it should sound amazing.

Cap, I should have called you before I ordered... my apologies. I should not have relied on facebook messaging. You have helped me SO much and I owed that to you...

As I mentioned, I needed them for THIS Friday and Saturday, so I was concerned about the shipping time.

Thanks again... I owe you one.

Wasn't referring to your comment... ittigger said he didn't like the "coinage".

And I don't - for that kind of price, I want some big sound and big speakers. You're new here - the Bose Wars went on for awhile on here - I did not get to partake in them. Like everyone else, I have some coinage sunk in systems as well but I heavily review what I want before I buy it. As I said, I do like the F1's - I just can't get over the price for small drivers - similar to guys that won't buy an Apple because it's overpriced (I have 3 of them).

I have tons of respect for Cap (our Bose guy) and when the time comes, if I feel like playing, I'll pick his brain. The Bose 802's were ok, never really liked the L1's but I do like the F1's.

Sorry if it sounded like I was calling you out. Not my intention at all. I was just remarking to what you said, that's all.

And I always stick by the idea that a dj should use what works for them. You will never see me get into a debate about Bose or Mac... I don't listen to dj's, I listen to my clients. Other dj's don't pay my salary, nor do they pay my mortgage or my kids college tuition. I do my own thing. I respect other dj's opinions but I am just not gonna get into any debate.

Some hate Bose and some hate Macs... Great! They don't have to use them. They don't have to buy them.

Also, and perhaps more importantly, who am I to say that Bose is over priced for what it is? I didn't design it. I personally don't put a price on the relationship of driver size to cost of the cabinet. I know what sounds good/great/fantastic to MY ear. I know what I think MY clients will like. That may be 100% different than what you think. I absolutely respect that.

I didn't take it as such. :).

When I see it, I try to partake in a healthy debate about PC's / Mac's for informational purposes - for the simple reason that some people do not know 'the other side' but automatically discount or exclude it because they don't know it. Each OS and system has their pro's / con's. Like you, I also feel everyone has to do and use what they are comfortable with and what they know. By the same token, try to learn what systems / options are on the table so that each of us can make informed decisions.

There are a bunch of guys here with great ideas about things and I'd like to think I have offered / shared mine as well and that others have benefited. IMO, this is an AWESOME group with some amazing people. Like any other group, we have our moments (that's what the popcorn is for).
