EV just announced it's new EVERSE 8 battery powered powered speaker. This unit competes directly with the Bose S1 and JBL EON Compact. My buddy has written a review of it for the next issue of Front-of-House magazine that will be out soon.

This speaker is about the same size and weight of the competition but offers higher SPL. MAP is $749 which is at the higher end of the category.

The mixer (controllable via BT) offers more effects in the mixer than the others in its class but less EQ than the JBL. It also has a 12v output port to power your wireless system, a shelf option to hold the wireless and there is an optional cover for the controls that will provide peace-of-mind for operation in wet weather (see 2nd pic).

Given that it is from EV, I am sure NLFXpro will be one of the first to have it in stock. Those Minnesotans seem to stick together.

I saw this pop up on Youtube and Facebook last night. A few months after I bought the Bose S1 Pro. I've been super happy with my EV products, so I wish I had known this was coming out... I probably would have waited. The EV "white" is a nice touch and looks really good. Part of their advertising is saying that this unit will hold up just fine if it gets a little wet in short, light rain... which adds a little piece of mind. Most speakers will, of course, but saying the words helps, lol. $750 is a lot of money, but on paper, it does seem better than the competition that's in the $600-$700 range.

Anyone wanna buy a "like new" Bose S1 pro? LOL

I really like it. I do love that they have an optional tray that sits flush on top of the speaker for a wireless microphone system! Great idea!

However, I don't see myself purchasing it. I already have the Bose S1 Pro, and it works great for me. If anything, I will be buying a new battery to replace the old one at some point in 2023. I was thinking of buying a 2nd Bose S1, but I just don't think there will be an event where I truly need two of them.. 1 is enough for ceremonies, and the cocktail hours that I do. If I do a big cocktail hour I would likely use my line array system or add it to the Bose S1 pro.

On one hand... EV doesn't make junk. I'm sure this sounds great, and it has 2 XLR ins, 1 minijack input and Bluetooth, like my Bose S1 Pro.

The power port for a mic receiver is awesome. The fact that the optional tray is $69 is not.

The weather-resistant thing about it is cool, if you have absolutely nothing plugged into it. The cover doesn't look deep enough to fit anything plugged into the inputs, and if the rest of your gear isn't weather-resistant, it's not very useful in bad weather. Still, if I didn't already own a couple of similar speakers, this one would be a top contender. It's hard to beat EV in terms of quality and reliability.

In my opinion, both Bose and EV make fine products. I believe the sound quality difference will be minimal, if any.
The EV has more options.
I have 2 S1's and have been extremely happy with them. However, If I was in the market for another one, the EV would certainly be considered. Being $50 more would not matter

The JBL Eon One Compact has a 'power port' also - you just needed a USB to receiver cord. I do like EV stuff, so I can see it in my future.

that charging port on the back of the ev scares me. I like the concept, but I can see someone..like me..plugging in the wrong plug because it fits and ruining a receiver.

Was that a dig? :pillyes:There are a few of us still here...quietly lurking in the corners...get offa my lawn.:sqlaugh:

For the most part we are all old here...some more than others ;)
