Could ah would ah, should ah You have an EGO MIX. = edging God out
If I was the DJ for that event it would have ROCKED

All DJs have egos! I said what I did because I have a good idea what would have made that event a success. I said the DJ had the right music for the event. He just didn't know what music to play at the right time. He started off with all of this Hip Hop music like Beyonce in the beginning which the crowd wasn't feeling. He should have waited till later in the evening to play stuff like that if that's what the client and their guests wanted. People were just sitting there at the beginning wondering what the DJ was doing.Could ah would ah, should ah You have an EGO MIX. = edging God out
Wrong again. No I wasn't hired to do the event. What does that change? That's not the first time I've been to an event and the DJ was sub par. There was one guy that was related to a member of the organization and they said he would never do another event for them. They said he got there late. The event had already begun. He had one QSC speaker sitting on a table and was using automix or auto sync to mix and it was terrible because some songs didn't go together at all. So he wasn't a true mixing DJ.He was subcontracted³ ... it was his gear and his van.
I don't tell a DJ what to play. I have friends that I might request a song. All the good DJs I know & ones who work for me don’t have a Ego. They all have confidence, many clients who hire them & tons people who say they are great DJs. I never hear any of them saying how great they are, how much they made and all the other BS. It isn’t necessary. But we do all tell War stories how those special parties went. Usually it’s the guy who isn’t working who is the one with the big ego. The ones who come up when you are DJing who come up telling you what to play.
Like the party where "the client" wanted a particular kind of music for dinner?
I know that you DID in fact play the music that was requested...
but you certainly made a stink about it on this board.
And you blamed her for the party not being successful.
Wrong again. No I wasn't hired to do the event. What does that change?
Yet another event - where you claim all these people know and like what you do and they say they should have hired you, yet you didn't get the job. Why is that?I don't tell a DJ what to play. I have friends that I might request a song.
I had a event I went to and the people were pissed off. They said I should have been the DJ. They knew me and I did several events for that group. We used to work together in the same building. They wanted me to go up and show the DJ what to do. I had my CD books in the van. They stayed in the van. I wasn't the one getting paid. Another one that didn't know the right music to please the crowd.
That had nothing to do with me. I wasn't happy either but I wasn't going to do a thing but stay in my place as a guest. At least he had top of the line gear. I would have been proud to own what he had.
I wasn’t referring to you, but the-20 and 30-year-olds I used to run into at colleges. For most I was DJing at the same school from before they were born. But some may wonder why you thought I were referring to you.I don't tell a DJ what to play. I have friends that I might request a song.
It's not a claim. I did a number of events with them there and people enjoyed themselves at those events. I haven't seen most of those people in years. I did have one lady contact me but I missed the call for some reason. When I did get back to her it was too late. Her daughter booked another DJ.Yet another event - where you claim all these people know and like what you do and they say they should have hired you, yet you didn't get the job. Why is that?
Have they offered you work since?

Personally, I find there are plenty of BETTER DJs out there .. and I'm OK with that ...Exactly. I occasionally come across a dj with an ego and it makes me laugh..... There's nothing wrong with being confident in what you do. To have an ego about it and think too much of yourself will just turn people off. I find most people with an ego are either trying to cover up some weakness or they are dillusional and really think they are something they are not.
I find most really good DJ's to be confident, nice, and humble. They understand there are plenty of other good DJ's out there
They may say that to you - but they're not booking you - and that should tell you something. Actions speak louder than words. It's not a claim. That event you're referring to was a long time ago and I loved the compliments I was getting. I just got tired of them telling me I should go up and ask this DJ could I play for a while? I wasn't the DJ who got booked to do the job and I stayed in my lane.

She left me a voicemail and I didn't listen to it till days later. I didn't realize she left me a message. If I would have known this I would have quickly responded back. Sometimes I forget after coming from a meeting to take my phone off of vibrate mode. So I miss some calls.Do you see how these two things tell two different stories..
She contacts you....and by your own error ...not "for some reason" you "miss" her call...
The fact that you are able to later "get back to her" tells us that you saw the call...and either put it off...forgot about it...or flat out ignored it...
Then at some later date it dawns on you ... who knows just how much later.
And THIS is how you constantly prove...without any doubt...how unprofessional you handle your dog and pony "hobby" over there

I think as a "businessperson", you might be checking the phone and email more than once a week. She left me a voicemail and I didn't listen to it till days later. Did you read what I said about that event!? It didn't go well because the person paying us decided to tell my partner she didn't want a certain style of music during the time people are eating and talking. It was the wrong kind of music for that time during the event. It was discussed what music should be played at that time. When a client makes a change like that what do you do Itigger? The decision was made to not argue with the person paying us and do as we're told. We knew that it was a recipe for disaster, yet just give the client/payee what they want. They may say that to you - but they're not booking you - and that should tell you something. Actions speak louder than words.
The event I'm referring to is linked in my post. Unless you're reading some other thread, that event did not go over well and it was an event your equipment was used at.
