The workers at Home Depot couldn't find it for the same reason the guy at my Lowe's told me they don't carry Leatherman's. It's because they're idiots. My Home Depot carries Tuf Board. It's in the back of the building materials section. It's used as trim board for houses. You'll find it in long lengths so they usually stand it upright. Call the contractors desk and ask them. They are usually a bit more intelligent. The brand name is "Tuf board" spelled with one F. http://www.tufboard.net/index.html

Now back to the idiots at Lowe's. I go in the other day looking for a Leatherman tool. So I ask the tool working in tools if they carry Leathermans. He said NO. Not, "I'm not sure", or "I don't really know", or "Let me find out for you". He just said NO. Two days later my wife and I are back in looking for a Dremel for a present. As we walk by an end cap where all the nifty knifes, box cutters, etc are hanging what do you think we found? Ding, ding, ding, yep a Leatherman Tool. If the tool was working that day I was going to slap him with it.

I've done the same thing with Home Depot looking for plumbing parts. When they tell me they don't make it or they don't have it I look extra hard. I then have to show the fools where it's located. Hey, it passes the time.

1/2 inch is too thick. It will be heavy. As long as you have center braces (dividers) and bear the load of your components on them, 1/4 inch material is sufficient.

Don't forget when you find the Tuf Board at Home Depot you drag their sales associate right over to it and show them where it is.:sqlaugh: If your store doesn't carry it then ignore everything I've written. I will deny it all.

Alphabet, I did call it that and PVC Tuff Board. Asked it was used for decking possibly and the took me all over the place. Then the guy said I have just the stuff you need light weight and will protect your equipment well. Cool, I thought. Well he took me to the rubber matts that you put on the floor that fit together like a puzzle. He said line your box with this and it will be great. I think he did not understand my needs.

Well, since they have to go to the speakers, I couldn't pre-wire them. I daisy chain them out in mono from the mixer with a single right angle 1/4 to XLR cable.

I was thinking about doing this and wiring from the mixer to these plugs.

XLR Plug

Set in some recessed plates. Then I could just plug my cables right into that, plug in the power and off I go. The only thing I need to figure out is my co-pilot

Sometimes the problem is regional. Other times it is generic vs. brand naming.

Once I needed a Uni-Bit. The guy in Orchard (they're usually a bit sharper in Orchard, har, har) looked at me like I had two heads. He said we don't have them. I said I'm pretty well certain you do, in fact I'll be quite surprised if you don't. Just point me to your drill bits and hole saws. Of course they had them but he always called them step-bits.

I've had the same problem at electrical jobbers. They call it one thing, I call it another. Just be ready to give a good description and its purpose. And don't call the guy an idiot until you're out of ear shot. Not that I'd ever do such a thing. Yeah right.
 
Bl, wouldn't you like to know that it is the other way around here... We call them Step-Bits but they know them as Uni-Bits Ugh. heck Harbor Freight was the place that had the best deal on them. We use them for drilling patch panel holes at the office, best way to do it on a drill press.

I'll give you that but you don't tell a customer no we don't have it unless you are certain 100% you don't. It's very simple to look on their computer thingy to look up their items or ask another associate. But I know when a worker is either to lazy or to stupid to bother helping a customer. Now in my case there is no other name for a Leatherman than Leatherman. It says it clearly on the package. There are other multi tools on the market but there is only one leatherman. This guy might not have know they carry them but he didn't even bother to find out. Gee, look what I found. Ron, there is no point in [me] attempting to explain the inexplicable. I don't think I was trying to say you were wrong so much as I was trying to give one example of cause for this type of confusion.

AND I was in a holiday mood. Good will toward men and all that stuff, just trying to soften the language. Sales Associates are people too. Stupid people an awful lot of the time but still people.

Alphabet got me on the Gerber line. I was thinking the same thing, unless it's a Gerber!
