Another good idea....by the way......right now for those who dont know....high school musical is hot for the kids as is Hannah Montana and Milly Cyrus....just for those that wanted to know

Don:

Thanks for posting this, it brouight a smile to my face. :)

What age group are the "daughters" for this?

I'm curious as I don't think I've even heard of a Father Daughter dance around here (but remember, I don't get out much :D).

Sounds like a really awesome idea, and big props for you that have done these.

I would think that the new country song "Stealing Cinderella" by Chuck Wicks (Whicks?) would be a great song to end on.

(He says as he returns to the issue at hand....)
Absolutely. This is a popular father/daughter dance for weddings.

Come to think of it, when the song came out on CDX last year we had a bride who was dithering over her F/D dance tune. The single hadn't yet been released to the public so we gave it spin for the bride. She loved it. By the time the wedding rolled around, the song was just starting to get airplay.

Besides, Chuck Wicks is one of the boys from home. Yessir, he was born and raised right here on a farm in Smyrna, Delaware. :)

Kirby this particular dance is sponsered by the habitat for humanity ....ladies build...they build one house a year and this is one of the fund raisers....they raised with raffles and cost at the door around $5,000.00

Most of the daughters are around the ages of 8 to 12...a few younger and a couple in the 21 year range....It was just 2 hours long but so cool to do....the girls love the chicken dance and hokey pokey..yeah the cheesy stuff....and dads for the most part are right there with them....

This might go over well as a fund raiser for Relay For Life also....

Father/ Daughter dances are also known as Princess Balls or my daughter likes to call them – Beauty and the Beast.

I've seen 'em sponsored by Girl Scout troops, girl's softball leagues, 4-H chapters and the like. They're a lot of fun for everyone. They're also non-profit so these dances make for great fundraisers.

Some years ago, the local 4-H booked me to do a combination mother/son and father/daughter dance. We had more girls in 4-H than boys so it was a bit lopsided but they all had fun. It was held at the local fairgrounds after a 4-H ag and animal show.

The show was open to the public so we had a huge crowd of onlookers at the dance afterwards. One of the littler ones worked the crowd with a kitty, collecting donations. She raked in right smart dough as I understand. :)

I have never heard of a father daughter dance around here and I have three daughters. Perhaps I should put one of these together and find a good cause to fund raise for.

Talk to Relay For Life...they have a great networking system in place usually....and they would be more than willing to do something to help....good way to get it out to the public along with having a good sponser....they can also get you in touch with the people who can donate prizes for the raffle...heck go into partnership you get a fraction of your pay...if they do the leg work....its a great cause...
