Karl,
Always use Balanced cables. It will help to reduce noise. You can get balanced 1/4 to 1/4 or xlr to 1/4

How exactly do they reduce noise going to unbalanced inputs...?


As per the Bose manual:

Inserting a male XLR connector sends the input signal to a balanced microphone preamplifier. Inserting a ¼-inch phone plug sends the input
signal to an unbalanced high-impedance line-level circuit which is suitable for most instruments such as active or passive guitars or basses, keyboards, etc.

Aside from that point you wont see any noise until your length of cable gets pretty long.... I have no idea how long but I'd venture to say somewhere around the 25' length and the risk is there for some noise.

You answer lies within. There is a big difference between professional line connected equipment and DJ/Home use gear.

Yer correct -- my cables are of much better quality... :sqcool: :sqbiggrin:


That does nothing to alleviate the point, that using balanced cables is only a worthwhile endeavor, if all things are balanced. They do diddly squat except cost more money, if one end is unbalanced.

I haven't lifted a speaker over my head for years - maybe up to my chest, place it on the stand, lift up the pole and tighten it up.

Or maybe even a roadie to do ALL the hauling you need - raise your price by $75 and give it to that person.

I use the telelocks but you still have to 'lift' those. They 'lock' them as they're going up so that you don't have to constantly hold them up and they will 'brake' on the way down if you unlock it slowly.
