So, do you think these Dynacords are comparable to the Bose? Not that I have the money but they are very interesting.
Not in the same league as the L1... the L1 is a portable line array system.

Dynacord products are quite impressive. I did a little nebbing around on their website tonight. :)

At first I was thinking after looking at the photo, "shouldn't this girl be in school and what's she doing hanging around a casino?:sqconfused: Then I realized it was Kat.:sqwink:

Ummm thanks? LOL

Although I still don't know what I was doing hanging around a casino!! :sqlaugh: LOL

Kat,
While you're ordering.....remind Ben about our screens....haven't heard from him yet. He's supposed to call Steve for money.

Doh! Do you know how many to-do lists I have put that on and still never got it done. :( Sorry Val. NLFX would truly be nothing if not for the great staff we have backing me up (or leading the charge, whichever). I apologize. I flew right from Vegas to Kalamazoo and my quest goes on from there. I think somebody posted on here about excuses and solutions.... Kat will bail me out once again and we'll have a solution! :)

No problem; like I said, we're shooting for end of March deadline, so we've got time. Just eager to give you more money!! lol :sqwink: I hated to drop it on you before Vegas anyway--knew you'd be spread pretty thin!

I don't post here very often (I don't know if I ever have actually), and although I've never heard the system that Heath has, I'm sure it's pretty good. (I've known him for a long time, he always wants to have the best stuff, good for him, bad for his checkbook)
And sorry, I don't DJ anymore, but I did for almost 20 years, so I do have a DJ background, so maybe you'll accept my poking my head in here once in a while?!

I am somewhat familiar with one of the Dynacord systems, and I can say I'd take it over a Bose system any day, and I have used an installed Bose PA system before in a bar. I believe it has 2 of the 802's (or whatever their pro line is). It sounded very good in the vocal range, I'll give it that. however, the highs weren't what I would call crisp. The lows were smooth, but not punchy. I don't know what subs they had though.

From the Dynacord system that I've heard, the bass is very tight and has considerable punch, and the highs were nice and crisp. I will say that they get a little harsh in the 3-5k when pushed, but nothing a little EQ can't take care of on the fly if one really wants to push it that hard.

I have heard the L1 system also, again, although only on spoken word, and they sounded good for that, but I wouldn't want to put on a show with them, I don't think they'd hold up very well. great for simple vocal applications and some acoustic stuff probably, but nothing with much dynamic range.

Another thing I've noticed with Bose 802 type speakers is listener ear fatigue. A friend of mine has 802 house speakers, and after listening to them for an hour or so, my ears just seem "tired", and I noticed that in the bar also. I don't know if it's because I'm straining to hear the upper end clarity that I want, or if it's all the different drivers pointed in different directions. They do sound good at first, and you think, wow, this sounds big and full, but just not in the long term setting, after a while, my ears get tired of deciphering all the reflections. I guess I'm a "point-source" type of guy.

These are my personal opinions though, please no flames or anything, just stating a few of my observations from personal experience.

I'll take my chances and jump on the Dynacord bandwagon also. It's very spendy, but very satisfying, not only for your own personal satisfaction of owning a top-notch system, but for the satisfaction of having people all over the place come and comment on the clarity and tonal balance of your system.

Many would beg to differ with you on that point.... very poor assessment of something you have admittedly stated you've not tested fully or properly.

But, that's not what this topic is about and this should be split off from Keith's MBLV09 topic.

Keith - you angry that the post went astray?

The topic steered this way well before this post.: so the poster chimed in with his assessment or opinion.....

I've only tasted asparagus once, very quickly..... I didn't take the time to really savour them, nor did I take the time to tweak them to make them taste better. I just didn't think they were for me after that first sample.

Does that make my assessment/opinion any less valid?

Nothing wrong with CClark's assessment; Many would and have begged to differ with your assessment of the Bose, although to be fair; you've owed them for a while and have a significant investment in the product......Does that make your assessment more valid?

BTW ...welcome CClark !

Hey, we all know who has the biggest -- me! :sqcool: :sqlaugh:

I'm sorry I didn't mean to turn this into a Bose Vs. Dyna thread....

I was mearly trying to state that I'd like to hear them both side by side like anyone here would.... not to compare and brag mine is better than yours just a simple comparison to know what adding a Dyna system to my equipment arsonal would do for me and my company.

Thanks for that Steve! Cclark- Charles to me, is a good friend of mine and has used his Dynacord XA rig for a ton of live sound applications!

This post did stray a bit when we were talking about Keith's newly purchased Dynacord rig at MBLV. Charles was merely putting in his .02 on his experiences with his Dynacord rig since we were already talking about an A/B comparison.....

Keith- I also apologize if I took the thread off topic!!

Many threads take a life of their own, it's no biggie. This is relavant information as I have purchased, but am not in possesion of this equipment.

I look at it this way;

We are all DJs who are passionate about delivering a good performance for our clients.

We use the tools we believe that will accomplish this task.

Some may not agree with the length of my hair, my clients are aware of this before they book me. I think it works for me. Whether a fellow DJ agrees with that or not is of no concern to me.

I used to use JBL Eons/JRX and still got the job done. Will it sound better with shorter hair?

I'm tired from traveling all day, just got home and the preceeding makes sense to me. If it doesn't to you, we can talk about that too. :sqlaugh:

Guess what guys....I was there and didn't get to meet/see anyone. I did see Tuck the first day I think but I did not buy a show pass so I was not around much. I finally got to the gear floor late Thursday afternoon after dragging in @ 5 am. By that time I wasn't faring too well so I browsed a bit and then left.

Sorry I missed everyone...I was busy getting the party bus ready and it took longer than I had expected. Maybe next year I can bring my son and we can take in some seminars and actually attend the convention and not party so hardy.

Rock on!!
