They had one a while back at Musically yours in Hackinsack for I think $495.00. I quickly left with a black cloth one instead.Mix I paid for the material and had a buddy build it for me. I have 600 bucks invested into it. Buying it from the one place I know that sells them in NJ would run close to 1000 bucks.
I have had that told to me before and I asked why. The response was "Duct Tape messes up the carpet and is too sticky". I then asked "Other than that, would there be a problem?" the answer was "No". I said "Let me introduce you to Gaffers Tape". I went on to explain the difference and comforted their fear of the residue problem. Needless to say, I ended up using my Gaffers tape along the baseboard and carpet.
Where in the world do you find these Venues who can never compromise or allow things? The few places I play who have banned tape...
the banquet manager is only relaying the rules from the owner.
So they didn't have the ability to make their own decision.
Now, if only the OWNER was on site to discuss it with...

we have 4 venues on the books this year which specifically have in their vendor rules that NO tape is allowed to be use anywhere in the venue
Again I am sure that when they say No Tape they are referring to Duct Tape. So what would you do if your Speaker Wires had to run across a path that people had to cross, such as a doorway etc and there was no other place to put that speaker(s)?In Pennsylvania....obviously
Don't act so surprised. I'm not the only one.
I believe I found the one I want to buy. It's made by Dragon Front Boards. The price on their site is $369.00. I would need to call them to get more details aboth that item. My question is would this one be good enough to use with a 6' table? We have some up coming events that I just don't want people to see the same old thing they are used to seeing from other DJ's around here. Bottom line is my ego says we need to be able to show clients and their guest the wow factor![/QUOTE]
are you talking about something like this?

I posted it as a means for someone to get the idea to build it themselves. However Check here: http://www.djskirts.com/index.php?a...ef=11468&sid=1gcy67t5lt55h5l8k5333c44dm5l1n6eNot bad, Canute.
I like the fact that you can wash the fabric (being WHITE).
I cannot seem to find a price when I google it.
Any ideas?
Get over it Jim! Nobody is saying the DJ has to be a showman. Should the florist only use mediocre flowers? Would a lavish bouquet display cause people to forget the reason why they are at a Wedding? A beautiful or elegant DJ Booth is an added feature to the decor of the room as long as the Colors are not Clashing. For me, I would rather have an awesome Lighted Facade than speakers boxed around my ears that makes me stand out and look conspicuous.I just can't get my mind around having a facade that draws that much attention at a reception.
IMHO the attention should be the B & G - not me or my facade. I prefer to do my job well but in the background.
Damn we're on the same page with that post. One in a million I guess. LOL.Get over it Jim! Nobody is saying the DJ has to be a showman. Should the florist only use mediocre flowers? I wonder how many Wedding DJs here are purposefully included in Wedding Pictures for the Official Client's Album? The DJ is indeed a part of the whole event and he/she is an important aspect of the Celebration. If one perceives themselves as being insignificant, others will also see you that way and therefore others are more apt to treat you that way.

For me I see it as a tool to make our setup stand out and not look like another DJ's setup. And please don't show that picture again. My take is I don't know who may be there and may want to book a DJ in the future. I just see it's not about just the clients that I'm working for that day. It's about trying to give a good impression to all that attend the wedding or other event. In turn I just hope the client will give us a favorable review and recommend us to other people looking for a DJ.I DO perceive myself as being a significant part of any reception and I use that in marketing. It's just that I prefer to let my performance be what they remember without having a lighted facade almost saying "look at me look at me!".
Let's agree to disagree on this one...
