I'm thinking about getting another facade.

Right now I have a black cloth facade. Needs a hing to fix it. We'll get that done. I was just thinking about getting one of those facades that you can put lights behind it to add a flare to just the old standard facade we have now. The table that I bring with us id either 5 or 6 feet. I believe it's 5 feet.

Now please don't beat me up for making this thread. I'm just thinking about getting one next month if I can. Not sure what type to look for or how much to spend on one. I'm just checking into my options on this. I said what I could do for now is simply take one of the LED lights we have now and use that to light up the facade for now. Just let the light stay on automatic to change colors with the beat of the music.

First what type should I look for? How big should it be and is my idea about using one of out LED lights a good or bad idea and why? I was thinking about doing this because nobody I know in my area has one and is doing this. Like I said keep an open mind and be kind with me making this thread please. Also for those who has one of these how do you transport yours so it doesn't get damaged?

This is what I have and have been using since December 2009 purchased from Grundorf through NLFX. I has a skirt made for it for extremely Formal Events. Box Pleated in the front mixed with Accordion going out towards the sides. http://www.grundorf.com/index.php?Type=CASE&Application=ML&AppType=1&Model=ML-F4863T

They also sell Lighted series. You can make your own but by the time you add up Labor, materials, trip to the Hardware store to pick up the materials, drive time and Gas you might be better off purchasing a finished product. Here are some Lighted Series.

As mentioned before I don't like full facades but a table top front board/facade tall enough to hide everything but the back of my laptop.

All wires and odd stuff was hidden during the actual gig.

As a wedding jock, IMHO a lighted facade calls attention to me which I do not want. The focus should be on the B & G.

My setup is clean and neat as is with no need for a facade. Plus to me a facade is like a Corvette for a 50 year guy...looking to make up for a lacking in another area...:embarrassed:

Our facades are used to hide wires....nothing more....unless you have a full custom built rack with only two small holes in the back for your speaker cords, there is no way to hide wires without some type of facade / covering.....it has nothing to do with bringing attention to our setup....quite the opposite, it actually makes us blend in more by hiding our equipment

Not doing weddings, I've never felt the need to "hide" wires .. Make them neat and safe, yes. GAF is your friend.

we have 4 venues on the books this year which specifically have in their vendor rules that NO tape is allowed to be use anywhere in the venue.....everyone has their own way to do things...I have prided myself the past year or so in hiding as many wires as I possibly can at weddings (and any event)....I have been obsessed about it lol

No doubt. But for me doing parties, reunions and especially karaoke, the venues aren't the cream of the crop.

Just sharing my experience.....

I have a full and a lighted facade. I guess you could call me a wedding jock since that's what I do target. I give all my brides the option of what facade they wish me to use. My full facade hasn't left the garage but twice in the past three years. Now, that may be due to the average age of my brides and my target client base. Still, they tell me that's something specific that they liked about my setup. We're there to perform in a sense...its just another tool in my toolbox, imo.

I have had that told to me before and I asked why. The response was "Duct Tape messes up the carpet and is too sticky". I then asked "Other than that, would there be a problem?" the answer was "No". I said "Let me introduce you to Gaffers Tape". I went on to explain the difference and comforted their fear of the residue problem. Needless to say, I ended up using my Gaffers tape along the baseboard and carpet.

There was no argument, no fight, no demands. Most people who tell you that they don't want tape say so because they may not know about Gaffers tape. They may only be familiar with Duct Tape and the problems it can create. In sales you will learn that an objection is simply a request for more information. There is nothing wrong with educating someone about something they do not know if done in a professional manner.

It also helps that when rolling your cables correctly that when laid out, they lay straight and flat without the 'Spring Rolls" or bends in the cable. This way it takes less taping to keep it straight.

We do weddings all the time. And I give our clients a choice of setups and this is the one they choose all the time. Most of our clients are between the ages of 25 & 35 we never have problems and have had venues recommend us to people based upon performance and our setup.

How much for that particular facade and where did you get it? That looks great!
