Anybody using a tablet for a backup. I want to buy tablet or Ipad and I need a easy ceremony rig for this sunday morning. Thought it might come in useful to play the ceremony songs. Anyone have any experience.

Thanks, Dean

I have an iPad 2. Can use it for much more than just a back up/ceremony player. I use it for presentations....show pics...having them sign, remote for my computer, teleprompter for announcements.
I really wanted a droid tablet to be better. I like my droid phone. But they simply don't perform like the iPad2 does. That may not always be the case, but today, it is.

Really liked the blackberry playbook. But it was too small for me

I agree with Scott... it's iPad2 or nothing. I also have a Droid phone and enjoy it, but there's no beating the iPad for ease of use and apps that work right. You won't regret the purchase - the iPad2 will hold its value far longer than any other tablet.

LOL, so I can't talk you into the $284 Vizio tablet from Costsco?BTW, I am probably waiting for iPad 3 OR the rumored 7" iPad.
Papa I wouldn't even recommend the Vizio tab to Rick Ryan.... its junk I had it for less than a day and would constantly freeze or stop responding.....

Scott,

Can you elaborate - which apps do you use for what? I have one that I've been playing with. I downloaded iFileExplorer and can see whatever word or pdf files I put on there but I think they're read only. I also put some videos showing my lights and system on there. I am interested in seeing how I can make the most of this for assisting me in a DJ capacity.

back up/ceremony player - assuming you use the built in iTunes app for

presentations
show pics.... Just use photo gallery for these
having them sign
remote for my Scott,

back up/ceremony player - assuming you use the built in iTunes app for this........ have not used it as a back up yet.....but I have app called djay
presentations.....photos
show pics..........just use the standard photo gallery for this
having them sign......use form connect to create easy contract that they can sign

Word documents.....use pages

i'll stay with Android and wait!

'i' devices are all about status and cult of personality. No thanks... :)

Maybe to a point. But look at how many BAD tablets have come out. Heck, the HP Touchpad is already discontinued, and the RIM Playbook is a piece of garbage. Nothing but trash from well known "good" companies.

I was kidding.... however I played the demo in Costco and it looked OK. But it was not something I would buy.... plus you needed to buy extra memory.

The biggest drawback to the iPad is the lack of standard input/outputs. For me a tablet should have a usb input a HDMI output and the ability to read a SD card.
I have just placed an order for a tablet that has all these options and it also sports a 250gb HD enough space to use as a backup (and this hard drive looks like a regular hard drive to windows/Mac os. Here is said tablet. http://store.archos.com/archos-p-5017.html

Depends what you need the USB input for .. you can hook up a bluetooth keyboard, there is a cable that gives HDMI out through the dock connector as well as a SD card reader. So those items can be attached (not built in). What swayed me was the number of apps specifically for the audio/video world. There's just a lot more of them.

I am glad you like your iPpad but you should not have to buy extras to plug in or use industry standard accessories. You need to do this, you must buy that to use me, you must follow big brothers rules mentality of Apple is wearing thin on me.

I don't have any of those (except a keyboard - already had that). Don't need SD card support or HDMI. I can send videos from my iPad using AirVideo to my TV without direct connection if needed. There's nothing wrong with the other tablets. I bought my daughter a Nook Tablet for Xmas because it was a better fit for her. It's just the iPad plain works for the things I do including remote control of mixers and DJ software. I'm not particularly an apple fanboy, have no Macs (not that there's anything wrong with them), but do have an iPhone and iPod.

Ok a bride/groom gives you a slide show on a memory stick to play at their reception you want to project this slideshow with a projector how do you do this with your iPad easily? I am a wedding DJ mostly and this situation happens all the time So I want a tool I can use with minimum of fuss.
