Ok a bride/groom gives you a slide show on a memory stick to play at their reception you want to project this slideshow with a projector how do you do this with your iPad easily? I am a wedding DJ mostly and this situation happens all the time So I want a tool I can use with minimum of fuss.
I don't .. I have a laptop with me to do that. The iPad is a control, email and note tool.

However, it is not that hard to load a slideshow onto it and with the proper cables, you can play it on a projector.

Steve are you a digital dj (using a laptop and software)?

Neither of us have an iPad 3. Not sure of the relevancy here. If this is another 'attack' on Apple, you ought to know by now that when you release something new, problems will occur - regardless of the product.

This is nothing new. Heck, they all have problems keeping up with the 'problems' during post production.

^^^ not an attack on Apple but apple to show they are not the end all to be all people make them out to be.

Anyone here said they are? Is any one of them (Apple, Droid, etc, etc) really the be all, end all?

It's all in what you want out of a product. Some like Apple. Some like MS. Some like Droid. Some like all (and then some).

I plug the stick into my projector directly. :) After of course, I make sure the pictures are in correct order... My Toshiba Thrive will do just that... BTW.

Not all projectors have the USB port for a USB memory stick and quite possibly - the usb ports, in the ones that have them, may not work.

If I wanted to use my ipad for this, I would plug the usb stick into a laptop and email it, or put it in my dropbox. The first thing I'd do is make a back up copy anyway, and have a second source, in case something happened to the first. I'm a wedding DJ too, and I'd make sure whatever media they gave me could play on more than one player.

I am assuming you are pointing out the fact that you can't just plug in usb into it. Everything has it's pluses and minuses. All tablets have some drawbacks...along with some great positives. Would I like it to have a usb port? Sure, but it's not nearly as important as I once thought.

The reality is I don't know of any tablet that you can plug in a stick and play a movie confidently at an event. If that's what you need something to do, a tablet...any tablet...probably is not the answer.

Obviously, with Apple still not being able to make these things fast enough, some people have found them pretty useful for lots of things. Other tablets have not been able to sell, mostly due to their lackluster operating systems. Heck, there was a lot of people, me included, that WANTED other companies to come out with a tablet that was better than the Ipad. It simply hasn't happened yet.
