My partner is looking to buy this for the business.

what only 95 weddings in one year thats not even close to how many a year I use to do...

3x a week is the normal for me

98% are weddings and the rest would be parties or whatever they wanted to book

so 3 x 52 weeks = 156 shows for friggen years some more some less

cheeky bugger!

I talked to my partner about starting out with a projector and screen instead of the 2 TV screens. While in KPODJ we found out that the poles we would need to hold the 40" screens would cost $800.00 each if we got them there. So that changed our minds because a regular truss wouldn't do any good because the truss would be sagging in the middle from the weight of the screens. Now please give me your suggestion for a projector and screen. I mentioned we can get a tripod screen. So fire away please.

Does your business have enough of a demand (requests) for video screens?

I have NEVER had anyone ask for a videoscreen at a wedding. However I have had requests/and I do offer an upsell for a projector & a large screen (for montages during dinner) which is much easier to setup/teardown. Note...Don't buy a tripod screen, they can only be raised so far. Get a Da-Lite Delux insta-theatre screen, you can set it on a 4 ft table & get the screen much higher. http://www.da-lite.com/products/product.php?cID=19&pID=92

Unless I am getting requests for (and I can make some extra money) I do not need to lug anymore gear to gigs.
Good luck!

Jimmy just so you'll know I got quite a bit of work coming in the future. Including a wedding possibly on November 16th. That's the tentative date. They are trying to find a place for the reception.

Mix I use one of these for photo slide shows:

Works well for my needs. I use an adjustable table behind me if I need extra height. Which was needed only once so far.

+1 .. I use this one as well. Not an every day screen (there are better), but works for the occasional use.

I am sure that can be modified to be attached to a speaker/Lighting stand. Using a T Stand it should be easy to attach the top part of the screen and then fold the legs of the screen's tripod.

It's possible, but if I recall, the included tripod has a relatively small rounded top, so you would need to find an adapter down to the 1" or so it needs.

Are you guys actually entertaining Mix's thoughts...?

Let's say for example, that I went out and stole everything I had, and was moronic enough to tell you so. Would you help me with advice...?

Helping the others out there that may have a similar issue. I don't think there's any help for Mix.

I was replying to Theo's post. That was a suggestion for him!

Thanks to all who helped me to something major. I thought you just simply get some TV screens and stands and it would be just that simple to start having video at gigs. When I heard how much the stands cost to put the TV's on I had a change of heart. I'll still probably go to Micro Center to check into a projector and a screen to show the image on.

Where are you getting your videos from Mix...?

Hopefully, you are getting the quality stuff from YouTube...

Remember I said I was just going to see what they have to use in Micro Center. I said nothing about things being a done deal. Just need to research things first before We can make a final decision. Right now I'm leaning towards a no for right now. Just work on a light show that will be impressive and renew my NJDJN membership.
