once a few pictures from a professional camera get posted on a website the phone will begin ringing off the hook. Now to find a professional photographer. Yup thats the key. They hire by the hour Im pretty certain of it.
I'm having a ball right now with this camera. I just bought a Sony 8 gig card to use for videos. I paid less then $8.00 for the card. I can't wait to see what the video will look like.
as mentioned before, make sure you have it set to shoot in RAW format.....and I also would suggest Lightroom, it is what I use (and I am a computer idiot!)....it can do a lot of the stuff the more complicated programs can do for a lot less money and learning curve.

It'll look like an $8 video. The T3i doesn't autofocus when you're shooting video with it, and unless you've got a monopod or tripod, your video will be shaky. Don't expect broadcast-quality footage, especially on your first day of shooting.
B Sharp could you say how you really feel. LOL! Don't worry I have a tripod too. Please be kind. I'm keeping the camera for now and learn what to do and what not to do. Unless B Sharp you want to buy me the one you want me to have.
Well do you want honesty, or a bunch of kind BS? I've owned my T3i for almost a year. It takes very good video, but you really need to know how to use it in order to get the best results. In my opinion, the kit lens that's included with it is not very good for video recording. If you want a better option that won't break the bank, pick up the EF 50mm f/1.8 II lens (just Google "Canon Nifty Fifty").
None of the current Canon Rebel cameras have continuous autofocus when shooting video. However, it's rumored that this feature might be included in the forthcoming T4i.
I guess in a photobooth application it should be moot as you are at one fixed distance....correct (in doing video)

The 50mm has a larger aperture than the standard kit zooms, so it works better in low light. Also the fixed lenses tend to be made a little better than the zoom counterparts. That and the 50 is a bargain at less than $120 http://www.amazon.com/Canon-50mm-1-8-Camera-Lens/dp/B00007E7JU .
As the other Steve noted, the 50mm f/1.8 lets in more light than the standard kit lens, which is ideal if you're shooting video at your events. I use mine on my T3i, which is for personal use and occasional pictures from my events.
For my Photobooth, I use a T2i with the 18-55mm kit lens and zoom in to about 24mm.
Right now I'm spent out. I'll get the other lens but not today. I'm trying to enjoy my birthday tomorrow.

A 50mm is an all purpose lens. Very good to have. Us "Nikon Types" call it a nifty 50. I've been shooting full frame for a while now and love it, with either a Nikon D3 or D700. The DX cameras in my bag I use when I want more reach with FX (full frame) zooms. Mix, these guys are not bustin' your chops, just telling the reality and things you should know. When I do camera vids, I use my Nikon D7000, which will maintain focus as I pan.

So Paul - the nifty 50 would work fine in a photobooth application, for stills and the added benefit of low light response for video?
You may want something a little less wide for PB. Regardless, a 50mm is a good add to the camera bag. Buy your camera manufacturer's 50mm. They are inexpensive. I keep mine on one of my bodies all the time.
