Did we ever find out if the place WAS Tiffany's, or if the OP ws risking his rep on a bad house system?

I'm going back to working bars and restaurants twice a week soon.

Last year (March/April) I worked an old friends pub and got £20 an hour the job was for 5 hours.

So I got £100 a night twice a week which is say £11,000 a year for doing something I find to be a piece of piss

That is cool dough really

I do the other things I do which bumps the £££s up a bit and wtf how much money do you really need?

I miss doing weddings in SF Bay Area as there was good dosh to be made - I only ever DJ'ed weddings in the US - my fee was $1000 - $1200 about twice a month

I don't mind the bar jobs - OK there are the annoying pissheads but bars over here are well covered by licensed doormen

Tips? Not so good but I usually get drinks bought for me (for later) then get a cash back

D

$75 for 5 and half hours

That better be cash...

I just completed a 90 day agreement with a local club spot that extended to 4.5 months. I used my own Pioneer gear, projector & screen, music & video library - I tapped into their house system and played from 9pm until 1am.....less time if it was a slow night as they closed early to save costs.
I negotiated $250.00 cash - no food & no bar tab. It was a once-a-week gig.

I'm currently considering an offer for another Fri-Sat commitment

I've been working a bar which a friend of my father's owns. He gives me $125 to come in before 9, and play music til 1-1:30. All I do is plug in my laptop and go. It's extremely easy, I get free beer, and it's a pretty good time. Would I want to get paid more? Sure, but it's consistent. I know I am going to get at least 4 dates every month. If I get booked for something else where I'd get paid more, I just call the owner of the bar and he switches me with one of the other two guys.

Using the figures of 8:30 ("before 9") and 1:30 (high end of "1-1:30"), this calculates to about $25.00 an hour. If your bag is the free beer and are ok with 25.00 an hour, then keep on rockin'.

$25 bucks an hour, free beer, get to meet chicks and play tunes off yer lappy. Not all that bad. I've done a heck of a lot of work for less than that... ;)

That's equivalent to a $50k a year job, and the boss not only lets you work buzzed, but he pays for it :)

I just booked a gig on Friday nites TFN , from 8 til 12 at a local PUB, getting 125.00, he encourages tips, so if i get over that its all mine, usually my Saturdays are doing weddings , thats the only hitch, but we will see, have to do a full setup, but they help me in/out

I would look at it this way. How much do you make doing weddings and how often does the work come in? When i was doing bar gigs it wasn't about the pay. Yes i want them to pay me but i wasn't doing it for the money. I would do it for the exposure. Me i would pass if that's all they wanted to pay. I bet you can find a place that will pay more then that if that's the way you want to go.

I also would check this place out first before making a decision to work there. For me it's not just about the system in the place as i've played in places that have had a garbage setup for gear. I would check the place out to make sure i would be safe there and people that know i DJ would be comfortable coming there to hear me play. One last thing would be to go there to see how the crowd is. If they have a crowd of regulars that come there or not. Or are they looking for you to fill the bar? Just my 2 cents.
