How does this name strike you?

Rick is it cause you are considering the multi path further? You are branding you with your name as the companyand tough for folks to forget that. Anything with Gold in it might be misplaced and or confused with another. Its been said that doing it such as you are is one of the best ways for spot on recognition.

Yea Jon, I'm intent on heading multi-op and "RyanEntertainment" just doesn't do it for me. I think "Gold" does resonate with brides (obviously) and there's not any other firm in this area using it in their name. Currently, I'm pigeon-holed into "Oh, Rick's booked" syndrome and it's an uphill fight to get them to let me book man #2. I would've preferred something that starts with "A" but just haven't thought of anything that wasn't excessively cheese-heavy.

BTW, the solid gold plaque never hit in this area so I don't think it'd be a problem in this market. I'm mainly just looking for something that'll stick.

honestly its how you sell the other guy. My buddy Music Maestro books me and a couple other guys when he is booked and bills us as the perfect alternate or of similar professional skill and personality. In some cases even making the call that we are the perfect fit for their event. If your client trusts your professional business they certainly should expect nothing but your best no matter who is serving the Rick Ryan Show.

In a perfect world, yea, maybe. But the problem is that, in most cases, I'm talking with someone who does not know me. They've gotten a referral (or not) and have spent a few minutes on my website. They like the reviews and the pictures and now I'm telling them they should let me send someone who's NOT "Rick Ryan"? It just doesn't work.

I'm looking to re-vamp my website, when I get a breather, and add at least a couple more DJs besides me, not to mention I've gotta ditch that jeans and a guitar shot of me. In some ways, I'm honestly pretty surprised at how much I have been able to book.

Golden Live Text UPlighting and DJ service might work.

A name takes awhile to figure out. Just let it mull around in yuor head for a while and bounce some ideas here.

If you ask me, "gold" is so overused by DJs that it's become very cliché.

Rick,

I Googled 'Gold City' and it came back with some amusement park in North Carolina. The thing is, you are based in Nashville and Nashville is 'Music City USA'. I know musiccitydjs.com is already taken, so I think you should drop any use of the word 'city' in your name unless you want to use 'music city' in some form. Maybe 'yourmusiccitydjs.com'. But, that might open you up to litigation. Just food for thought.

Gold City is also a vocal Gospel group that's been around for a long, long time..

I have been using Gold Plated Productions for over 20-years.
what people remember the most about me is MY name
not the company name.
I am currently considering a website
and will probably go for MikeFoxx.com, rather than Gold Plated Productions.
why risk the chance of losing any positive ground?

as for the multi-op idea...
I work for a guy who uses HIS name for the business name (and website)
and ALL of his DJ's get plenty of "leftovers" when he is booked.
the name change isn't gonna make potential clients like your #2 guy any more or any less
it'll just make it harder to find YOU!

I did buy "MyNashvilleDJ.com" but still not convinced it's any better.

RickRyan,
If indeed you are serious about growing your business, why not put some aspects of it in the hands of professionals. Check with a Public relations firm and see what they charge and suggest. You may also want to ask your local college, one that gives a course in Marketing or PR for a "Help Project" in exchange for a small donation.
Think outside the box but don't try to be a do it all. :triwink:

Rick Ryan
Gold City
My Nashville DJ

now you have THREE different company names...
think that might be a little confusing?

if someone searches for YOU, they will search for Rick Ryan
why not make it easy for them to find you?
