The price must have recently dropped and dropped dramatically.... just about a month ago I was checking it out and it was at $199.00... looked today and it's dropped to $89.00

So, I thought I'd give it a try and see what I think.... just playing with the demo wasn't enough to really try it out.... at $89 it's affordable enough even if it doesn't become my default player....

My initial thoughts on this program is that it has a much, much, much higher learning curve than VDJ especially in the initial configuration and setup process.

I have it set now.... took about 20 minutes of trial and error... and watching various YouTube videos...

No there aren't bunch of 3rd party skins for it but, the look (while a tad blocky) is good and functional.

So, far the only thing I will miss in traktor vs VDJ is automixing... no more cocktail, diner and pee break playlists on autoplay.....

As I was tooling through the settings there is one that is unchecked "load track at the end of the current track" might provide a simple two or more song autoplay list.... when I have more time I will play with this to confirm.

Bottom line here is for now I will be just working with it in a non-gig setting before I bring it out live.

Rob,
There IS Automixing in Traktor. It is called "Cruise". If you need help in setting things up,PM me or we can do a telephone thing to walk you through some protocols. There are some shortcuts you can take to ease your pain.

Cool.... I will have time on Tuesday I think.
Remind me on Monday and we will setup a time. Here is your Cruise Button. See Photo below. Top right, the Blue Square that looks like a "Roundabout Circle". You first have to be in an active playlist, then start playing the first song in one of the decks, before clicking on "Cruise".

Traktor has tons of features and Bells & Whistles, it is very intimidating to a new user but once you learn the correct steps, it becomes real simple.

Im glad Virtual doesnt charge for upgrades. Enjoy this past version in May you will have to pay to upgrade.

Im a Serato guy but I have to give props to Traktor Pro. It runs great on Windows machines and it really has a nice looking layout. A dj on our team is a die hard traktor user. He runs it with this Allen and Heath board http://www.allen-heath.com/UK/Produ...px?catId=XoneSeries&ProductId=Xone4D&SubCatId= He mapped the board to work with Traktor and does a nice job with it. I gave it a whirl at one of his events and was happy to run back home to my cdj's and Rane board. It aint for the wanna be DJ.

Another reason why I love Serato is because of the free update. Yeah you will pay a good buck for the hardware in the beginning, but all updates are free. Rane hardware will easily last for 10 years. My SL 3 is 3 years old and I'm not changing it until the year 2019. My SL 2 is only a year old, so that one will be changed in 2022.:)

Within a certain period after buying Traktor, there is no charge for upgrades.

Again, as DJs we tend to claim what we use and have is the best. What we have to remember is, that even in the DJ world, we have choices. What is good for one may not be good for another. We are free to choose what we want.

actually in regards to software none of them do it all how I would prefer. I am not equipped to design something in that form so I pick the ones that work best for me depending on the complexities. Im anxious for the new Rockit as I would like to use just one offering. RICK Release the BEAST!!!.

Release it Ricky! Get your damn hands off the trigger and back to the keyboard man...

Jon,
Have you tried out ALL the other DJ Software to know that none of them do it how you prefer? Tell us if you will. How do you prefer it to be? What features are you looking for in a DJ software that you cannot find in an existing DJ Software?

Wait .. Did I just buy Rockit before it gets a major makeover ?

There are three things to know about the "Cruise Mode" in Traktor (aka "autoplay").

1) Cruise mode can only be turned on while a song is playing.
2) Cruise mode will walk any active playlist.
3) Two options need to be enabled: "Load track at the end of current track" and "Stop deck at end of track"

After that, there are controls that allow a smooth/sharp transition and set the time for the crossfade.

See this for more...but you don't really need the fade in/out markers set, or the "sync" button pressed.
