Cap. It was not a tantrum, it was just the mood I was in after reading the thread. My questions were answered and I am done with this thread. Like I said. I like it here and the folks here. I am not one to stir up trouble, I just had a couple of questions. It was above and beyond for the mods to come here and address the questons here. Like they said above, not many boards would let a thread like this carry on.
 
So somone said something against the Pope. They will have to deal with that on thier judgement day (whatever that is for them personally)
I just let it slide and move on. It will not change any beliefs or views (except maybe about certain members character) so if members want to post about sleeping with german shepards or whatever...so be it. I can go "this thread is not what I'm interested in " and move on.
Glean from the threads what you can use in your business and dissregard the rest.
too many people are taking things far to personally. I mean HEY! The Pope may have a forum asking people to poo on DJ's! (Ok.. I'm just trying to lighten the mood)
The bottom line is....just being civil in a semi private (most public doesn't know we are here) forum. If you don't like the direction a thread is going.....go to another thread. as long as two bullie stand in the courtyard and sling mud....it's going to get dirty.
Just be bigger than that and move on. :)

I'm glad the staff is enforcing the rules when needed. If we didn't, we'd be no better than the rest. Heck, if people think we're a pushover, this site could become another Harmony Central. :eek:

Come to think of it, that's pretty much what others have become.

ODJT has done something unique to online DJ networking. So far, no one has created and maintained an industry forum site that's free from agendas. Everyone seems to have and/or support an agenda. I'll tell ya this much... it's hard to promote an agenda when you're trying to herd cats. :D

With the welcome mat out we're naturally gonna get all kinds. We're gonna get all ages, too. These people come from all cultures... and again, naturally, they'll disagree with one another from time to time.

In order to manage a site with such a wide swing of cultures, ages and opinions we're gonna have to professionally moderate. No one in this crazy biz is ever gonna agree 100% with everything everyone else thinks or does.

Heck, getting two DJs to agree on the color of the sky could be a chore. Twelve pages and countless diversions later, they still can't agree on what color the sky is. :D

Here's where ODJT shines. Members don't have to agree to be welcome here. They don't have to settle for poor or nonexistent staff coverage. They're free from constantly being hit in the face with agenda-laden nonsense that spews forth at other sites... from the staff, no less.

Members are free to express their opinions without fear of troll attacks. Staff responds to and acts upon reports of forum abuse. How's that for innovative? :)

There is no doubt the kid pushes the limits but would it be too much, where the TOS violations happend at pretty much the same time, to just give him 7 days to see if there is any change in attitude?
 
frankly, I find it amazing that some people are so good at getting under people's skin.
I've found if you want to be a good dj, you need to be a good sales person and if you want to be a good sales person, you need to get your ideas across without pissing off everyone you come in contact with.
There is a HUGE HUGE difference between disagreeing with someone and violating someone's TOS. I have never read this forum's TOS. I don't need to read a TOS to remind me not to be rude...especially after someone pm's me and says..."hey, what you said was REALLY rude, please refrain.
I've found this forum and it's mods to be overly cautious in banning, suspending and deleting posts....things that happen WITHOUT DISCUSSION elsewhere on a regular basis.
I'm amazed that the mods spend so much effort and precious time on this effort. It's what makes this board much more pleasing to me than any other.

I do agree with Steve and Tyrone....this board could use more meat, and WE are the ones that can help it get that.

I've not found this place to be a good ole' boys club at all. I've found it to really get excited about new members and their contributions....A good ole' boys club would be filled with older members telling newer ones why they don't know anything.

I do believe that some people don't think about what they post sometimes. Or they think it won't really matter. I've said it before....I try to never post anything that i wouldn't say at a network meeting...I've met people at a network meeting and decided....i really don't want to spend much time with that person....but never felt inclined to get in that person's face and give them a laundry list of their faults...from my point of view. I've bought things from people i've met through these forums....sold things to them....received business from them...given business to them.....for me THIS is a large network meeting...and i try to treat it and it's members as such. I don't think that just because we aren't sitting around a room together, that what i say(or type) won't affect my business.

Well, you taught me something! The link describes the word as a Colloquial term meaning "at the ready," prepared, and/or careful. Comes from an amalgam of the words diligent and vigilant. Often currently used as a thoughtful, yet currrently wrong word substitution for either Viligant or Diligent.

Cool. Even though it's a colloquialism, I very well may start using it!
