Boy, I'm sorry I got to the dance late on this one. LOL. I spent most of my flights to and from NAMM writing a paper on the properties of wire, shielding, dielectrics, volt drop and amplifier line loss. Sorry Canute... maybe next time I won't be tardy. LOL.

Yes, Travis.
There are some of us here that ARE fluent in the use of Socapex.
You seem to forget that most here have never seen the behind the scenes
of a major production that would use a run of Socapex.

Here is a Picture of some: the cable on the left is Socapex to Stage Pin
(Which run to Par Can light bars normally)

and the Pic on the right is Socapex to Edisons, (which would be used to power intels, or single groups of lights for seperate control of them)

I prefer 20amp twist-locks but that is me. over stagepin

They call those octopus cables if I remember right. I'll be frank, I got good knowledge about Sound & Video, but lighting is my weakest point. I'm learning it though. I know about the brands, just how to design a show is really piss poor for me, ask esoteric, he must of thought I was an idiot when I sent him an email.

If it's a permanent install, run only the length you need. Terminate it in a wall plate and be done with it. If you need pricing on permanent install cable (CL3P or CL3R jackets), custom wallplates, or any of that... buy it from me.

Those are my two pieces of advice.

I think the issues of inductance has been adequately beaten to death, as has line loss. The loss percentage directly correlates to the load. If the load is 8ohms a 0.5dB loss is approximately .48 ohms, which will occur at roughly 150' of 12 GA cable. With a 4 ohm load that same loss occurs at just 75'. Of course those wanting to be technical can debate the stranding count or whether or not it is tinned copper. My point is that likely no user will distinguish a 0.5dB loss in the line. I think it was Balanced Line that covered this very well earlier.

Hey I have seen that stuff... on CSI Miami they had an episode where a model was electricuted and someone had run a piece of platinum between the connector and the poll she was dancing with while standing in water.... so that's what that cable is called.

right??? Stagepin CAN be dangerous... So can sacapex... As a rule NEVER EVER plug/unplug saca (or any type of extremely high voltage connector for that matter) while the other end is energized.

Think 120V X 8 circuits.
