Steve 149 Thanks

I like to think of it as a assist because the chances of any of us (Myself included) would of come up with the right answer to sell against this $3000 DJ would of been slim.

Maybe not to you but some might be interested.

Thanks Hank
Who is "Interested" is not the question. What relevance does the 3K have in the equation? How are his satisfied brides any different than those of other DJs? (Anyone, not just me.)

Here's a better question... Do you think that this guy and his magical 5 stages could convince any/all brides to pay $3000? Well, you and I both know the answer is no and THAT makes the whole issue of his rate irrelevant.

Here's one DJ I found with the "5 elements" ( see this pdf: http://kc-wedding-dj.com/wp-content..._Elements_Extraordinary_Wedding_Reception.pdf )

They are:

MOMENTS & MEMORIES
ATTENTION TO DETAIL
GUEST INVOLVMENT (sic)
IMAGINATION
CELEBRATION

A little too "Cruise Director"ish for me. That, and I don't know anyone here who wouldn't follow this normally, though a lot encroaches on wedding planner duties. The issue is whether you market this. If that's your thing .. go ahead.

Hank - I disagree from my observations of the thread (I used to think it was O Kay but I've had a change of heart) the issue of the $3000 DJ is relevant.

Steve 149 Thanks but those are limited to the Wedding Reception.
I'm sorry .. what does the DJ have to do with the ceremony?

Unless we're providing sound for it, we just have to know when it starts and if it's going to be a long or short ceremony. Other than that, nothing at all.

Okay, then explain to me how it's relevant. Prove me wrong.

Are we supposed to feel inferior or insignificant when compared to this person? Should we all strive to be him?
Go ahead... Say what you have to say in one post instead of sprinkling it around like fertilizer.

.

So I'm missing something .. if the 5 magical elements don't have to do with the reception, then we're not talking DJ .. we're talking wedding planner or wedding orchestrator or wedding magician or something .. and that didn't seem to be the gist of the question.

Steve 149 - That's not how the $3000 DJ thinks.

Steve this is a DJ that I have watched from working for a Multi DJ company and then branching out on his own and I have read his posts on many boards, I respect this vocal DJ on the boards and he is not a Wedding Planner.

That's because he's apparently not a DJ.

Cesar - Like Hank said, it would be a lot easier if you laid out your thought process in one place. I'm really trying to understand the flow, but it seems like you are saying that to be a $3000 DJ, you need to stop being a DJ and be something else. OK .. but then we'd be something else, like I said .. call it the wedding emcee, the wedding cruise director, but it doesn't mean we're now $3000 DJs, just as someone who packages a photobooth and photography with DJ services for $3000 isn't a $3000 DJ.

Help me understand.
