Do u guys that use the bose L1 use the remote eq w/ your system for dance music. Today I pluged in my remote for the first time and it was like the speaker came alive I had great bass and crisp highs I kept the gain and master on reomte at about 12oclock and the highs at 3oclock and the bass at 3 oclock the mids at 10 or 11 o clock. The dj mixer eq stayed flat. I am using xlr inputs 1 on power stand. Now I truley have a great system. My setup is 8B1s two pack lites and 2L1 mod 1s. When I first got my system from Cap I dont recall him telling the remote is the key to great sound W/ the L1. I do recall him telling me about preset 58 and that he hardley ever use his remote. What do u guys think? and how are u running your L1s am I on the right track.

Thanks for your reply. So jokers wild u dont use you remote to add highs or bass?

Nope, I actually turn everything up to unity gain.... so that I could hear them at full volume then adjust them from there, but as cap put it out yes you wouldn't or shouldn't need to muck with the remotes settings other than to set them to 12 noon and unplug em... and if you needed more juice then adjust the power stands themselves.

But, don't take my word call cap and get the clarification you need remember i'm till a Bose Noob ;)

Whoa there Tonto...you gotta give people more that a couple of hours to respond. I can't comment further because I am not yet a Bose-O (soooon my precious). I can tell you that Cap is out of town this weekend with family stuff, but he may be checking things online or taking calls...who knows.

Same info from cap to me, except one item.

Without the remote plugged in, everything is set at "Flat" if you are running preset 00

If you plug in the remote with all the dials at 12 O'Clock everything is still flat, if you make any changes and then unplug the remote the settings remain until you power off the L1. The next time you turn it on, back to "Flat" again.

Do you have the Preset "58" installed?

If not you should really download and install it you can find info about it here.

Yep preset 58 installed today the setup was 1 L1 4 b1s and a packlite and the remote eq. the eq gain and master set at 12o'clock and the mids at 10 o'clock the bass and highs set at 3 o'clock. Let me tell u the sound was fantastic thumpen bass and clear crisp detailed highs. w/preset 58. I really love the way it sounds and i am just curious to find out why I havent heard any thing like this from other bose ooos. Thanks for your reply mbm. how are u running your setup

I did not buy my stuff from Cap so I did not get any of his sage advice though he did tell me if I needed help that he would help me. I went to the bose site and found how to set my stuff to get the max from them.

I personally keep the remotes plugged in. Could I be wrong? You bet yaa. But I will say my system sounds fantastic so I guess I'm doing something right.

My feeling is if you have to plugged them in and set your system each time I might as well just leave them hooked up. But above all else listen to Cap he be the man. I'm running the 2 L-1 quad b-1 setup and love it.

So do you make changes on the eq like I have posted? are u also using the famous 58 preset. Before I used the eq the sound was good. But w/the remotes plugged in and a lil adjustment the sound is now great. I love it.

When I got my Bose L1 back in March Cap told me that he hasn't used his remote in over three years, so I have never used mine. I'm going to try it this weekend, though.
Do you set your trim level at zero and just use the remote volume? How do you set your mixer master volume?

I haven't used the remote except when I was plugging a guitar in, and when I was on the phone with Cap, during my training session. I keep one in the van just in case I get somewhere someone wants to plug an instrument direct into the Bose. I have my second gig with the system this weekend.

I use my remote,,,, there is no reason to even plug it in if you are just going to leave them flat... It's the same...

I pump up my bass with them, sometimes maybe I'll pop up the highs depending on where I am using them... I always leave them plugged in because you never know... If I am doing a wedding that turns into a night of big band, I would set it differently than if the night turned into hip hop.....

When I use my Bose I have it as loud as it possibly can go without starting to sound like crap. I need the remote pluged in at all times to back down mids or bass for when it starts to sound like crap.

I have found after fixing my feedback issue that The Bose is just not very loud.

I still like it.

No offense Cam ( my pal) but your ears are shot and sometimes clean sound doesnt make your ears bleed no matter how you crank it. How did that site work out for Hockey pump songs, it didnt seem to help the Penguins tonite. (If they had played 3 periods they would have won).

Jon,

No matter how deaf someone is 110 DB is 110 DB no matter who is listening to it.
