I bought that DigiCo mixer and have used it a handful of times. It's got lots of eq control, but I still had issues, specifically indoors. When I'm outside I don't seem to have nearly the same problems, but inside I seem to chase feedback around endlessly.

The DBX is in, but I haven't had a chance to test it yet. I'm looking forward to getting into it after my wedding on Saturday.
Where you positioning the speaker? I know sometimes it out of our control but ideally you would want it FOH in front of the groom bride etc. Indoors is tough because of the reflections in the room and sensitivity of the lavs. I still have the dbx goRack. Hard to believe they cost $30 at the time and now they are reselling for $150+

There's a lot of different situations. Most recently I was running mics for an interview discussion on a corporate gig. Very strange room shape, and difficult to place speakers:

There were two seats up front for the presenters who were each wearing lav mics. The speaker (bose compacts) closest to them was turned about 65 degrees back toward the audience trying to get the output of the speaker away from the mics. The second speaker was along the same wall near the back of the space and was far enough back that it wasn't bleeding into the mics.

This place is closed for events now, but another example of a very challenging room that we've had to work in for ceremony is this one:

It was reverb city in there. Not a single surface soaked anything up, just marble and stone.

Another nightmare:

Super long thin room. Guest chairs basically all the way up the sides with nowhere good to place a speaker in the space that isn't too close to the mics. Another example with all hard surfaces in the room. Very, very challenging. I've tried to do one at the front (pointed directly away from the speakers and set up in front of the people talking) but it caused major problems, so I'm basically stuck putting speakers at the back of the audience.

We deal with a bunch of really pretty, but very awkward spaces from a sound perspective.

I just got a Pioneer Rev-1 with the carrying case and cables this weekend. I really prefer to use my turntables and Rane Seventy for DJing but sometimes it's just not practical or worth the effort to lug them out. I have a Numark DJ2Go2 Touch, but that is just too small for my taste. I'm going to use this for the few remaining pool parties I have booked and very small gigs.

Let us know how it goes. I'm still in hopes for something similar to the Pioneer SR2 with upgrades to come out.

I feel you my man. The difficult part is they great sound but don't want speakers to be noticeable. I'm like well you do realize that's where the sound is coming from. I've been in those marble floor rooms. Looks great, but sound wise it's terrible. Let us know how the dbx AFS works out.

I got a few hours of practice in with the Rev-1. It's pretty decent so far. I like that it has the same size platters as the SR2. I used to own an SR2 but I sold it when I moved to the Rane Twelves. I really regret that decision. The SR2 was a perfect controller for me. I had been holding off from buying another one because I feel like a replacement is going to come out as soon a I buy the SR2. The Rev-1 isn't expensive so I felt like it was worth the investment but I feel like there will be a Rev-3 or Rev-5 in the future to replace the SR2.

I just ordered on Ebay Shure BLX dual wireless H11 mics. I got it for a nice price. I got it for just under $570 and that's tax included. I will find out when it is to be delivered. So I was told those are the ones I needed in the first place.

Is this the system you purchased Mix? $549 with 2 day shipping direct from Shure. What seller on Ebay did you purchase from?

Ordered two EV Zlx 15bt tops, another set of speaker stands and some 50' XLR's. I have to say, I'm fairly impressed with the ZLX line. I had heard an older set (they are probably 6 or 7 years old) and thought they were decent, and I've wanted a set of 15's for the times I don't really need subs (I've booked 4 events in the last few weeks where they just need mics and speakers). For the price, I'm pretty happy with them. I'd love to have the sound and quality of the EKX or ETX line for my 15's, but heck, I don't know if I'd be strong enough to lift them on and off the speaker stands, LOL. 40 pounds is about the most I wanna fool with when it comes to tops.

Let me know what you think of the ZLX's. I'm interested. I think @Ausumm uses the ZLX line also.

They are pretty good. I used them last week for an outdoor "Touch A Truck" event where I played for a few hours and had 2 guys playing guitar and singing that I ran through my mixer and speakers, and everyone said the sound was great. It was a large parking lot that was about 250' square I'd say and I was set up in one corner and you could hear fairly well in the far corner. I was not hitting the limits of the speaker at that point, but I was really close. It's hard (at least for me) to really gauge sound quality and volume outdoors sometimes.

I will be using them at a small indoor wedding this weekend so I'll let you know how they do there. I expect very well. I will say, I don't think they are quite as "crisp" sounding as my EKX 12's. That could be the difference in 12's vs 15's, or the level of quality of the horns and box. I'm not experienced enough to know about that one.

They are fairly easy to move around and handle, which I do like. I considered starting out with just a pair of these 15's when I started DJ'ing. They probably would have worked very well for a first set of speakers for a new DJ, especially to see if it's something you want to do. They also have Bluetooth which is nice if you use that (I don't usually, unless it's just around the house playing music).

The only things I can say I'm not overly happy about are:
1. There is no built-in fan. I had them in the sun on a 75 degree day for 4 hours at near volume limit and had zero issues. They may be fine, but I wish EV had a little fan in there for them.
2. They seemed to hit the first limiter sooner than I would have thought. It wasn't a problem, it was plenty loud, but it seemed like it came earlier than I expected. I recall seeing this on my friends older set as well. I feel like my EKX 12's are about 65% where the ZLX's are 85-90%. Again, this could just be speaker quality, I'm not real sure. Also, in my uses, I don't really foresee this being an issue for me, it's just knowing the limits of your equipment.

If I had it to do over again, I'd buy them again. For the sound and price, I think they are great.

What kind of event is that? Does it replace a Buy-A-Truck event because no one has inventory or is it just some bizarre sexual fetish event?
You're close..... lol.

Our church has put it on for the last 10 years. We have trucks of all sizes come park on-site for a half a day or so and allow kids to come and see them up close, sit in them, blow the air horn, turn on sirens, etc. We've have tankers, fire trucks, ambulances, police cars, new tractors, excavators, cement trucks, National Guard vehicles, etc. This year we even had a few boats and a small plane. Along with that, we have face painting, bounce houses, popcorn, ice cream, snow cones, hot dog lunches.... and it's all free for the community. The church doesn't make any profits nor do we "push any info". It's just something we provide for the community. This year, they hired a good DJ. ;-) LOL

They have been doing them here for years with a different twist. It starts as a raffle fundraiser and they pick 5 or 10 out to touch the truck. The last person to let go wins the truck. One went on for 4 or 5 days one time I believe that one was a radio station contest
