Well - on the Movie Network here in Canada (this a premium movie channel a la HBO)...at 3 a.m. they air soft core porn movies; everything is OK but the money shot.....On Sunday mornings they air kids movies.....

just because its on your hit radio.movie station doesn't make it Ok for all ages.....

(Dam, I have to find my "morality police" hat)

I'm expecting a super soak comment any second.....

isnt that channel a pay channel

It's a premium movie channel, not a pay per view.. You buy it as part of a package, just like if you want sports you buy the sports package.

The point is, our governing body - CRTC (your FCC) says its OK to air porn at 3 a.m. (as if the 13 year olds haven't figured it out) and on that same channel - Monsters Inc.....4 hours later....

Do we trust our respective FCC's ...that they are making the correct choices....

The porn movies are on the regular movie channels, not a separate "porn" channel. TMN will air Naughty Nurses and Beaudacious Blondes at 1 and 3 am. At 6 a.m. is Race to Witch Mountain....block the channel; the kids can't watch Race to Witch Mountain

I'M clueless

You said it, not me.

well maybe in the fine liberal state of California you can say and do anything but not around here, I have checked with the local radio stations and there are rules they have to follow that are set by the FCC and there are things that can and can not be said on the radio

I believe I explained this, in detail, based on my years in radio, in my post that you quoted. Did you read it, or just hit "quote" and then reply?

im not here to get in a pissin match with you but i must be doing something right I'm working most every weekend

Huh? Relevance please? Describing how I choose to run my business isn't an attack on your business. If you'd like to start a new thread on how you're able to be booked that regularly, I'd be happy to have a look at it.

Based on the reading and writing abilities you display, I would like to ask this: are you bothered by the censoring of lyrics because you're still IN middle school?

No, Steve, us LIBERALS in CALIFORNIA just have better grammar and literary skills (because we are LIBERALS WTF). And we know how to DJ school dances with music besides the TOP 20.

BTW, redhotdj, California schools have some of the strictest policies about music and dancing. We are far from Liberal.

Can we play nice now? Some of you could really learn here if you just applied yourselves :sqlaugh:

These types of arguments crack me up. I remember the types of music that I listened to in middle school and high school, much of which was played at the dances. The remix of "It's All About the Benjamins" with Puff Daddy featuring Kid Rock was an expected tune at one point. Last year, "All Summer Long" would have been an expected tune. I think there are more controversial songs to be concerned about, like sayyyyy, anything by Lil Wayne.

Ducky - the way things are going - expect some freakin' at your and JMac's daughters kindergarten prom.....:sqlaugh:

I hear you...I danced to Afternoon Delite:sqerr:

I think a big component is that the innuendo in songs back then isn't so much innuendo today. I'm trying to think of any "radio" edits in the 70's ...I think then, a radio edit meant a shortened lp cut....

plus...I don't recollect the bending over, lifting skirt to expose thonged or bare buttocks, groping of breasts and buttocks and crotch and all that nastiness on the dance floor. I remember in Grade 9...the biggest concern was 1) learning how to slow dance 2) learning how to "do the hustle".

Everything today is uber sexually charged...

I have learned that my customers have had no complaints from any staff. I edit certain portions of even the radio edits. I also play that one song that the kids chant I dont want to be Elmo, Shes a real P*ssy Wagon and others. Just to let some new folks know. I have been in this biz doing schools since the 80's almost got 36 yrs under my belt and I still continue learning. I also move forward with the times. I even play POKER FACE!!

I'm just the paid help. Yeah there are some songs I won't play...period. But at the end of the day, it's not my job to teach someone else's kids what's appropiate and what's not.

Lady Gaga claimed on interview with Jonathan Ross on Friday night with Jonathan Ross. my point being I could claim the song Party Train from the 70's meant that we pull train on that same freshman Ho.
