Innuendo has existed even before the "devil music" that your grandparents thought rock & roll was came along. There's no getting around innuendo, or the million ways to interpret something. You COULD claim anything, if you really want to, but I'm still going to have to look at what I reasonably can expect a reaction to be, on any given song, on a song by song basis, and a moment by moment basis. If a song is too big of a hit to ignore, I may be more compelled to play something that I'm not entirely comfortable with, as a D.J. (none of these comments are relevant regarding me, as a person). It's a matter of "how popular" versus "how much innuendo" versus "what impression do I have about the parents and staff of this particular school." There's no magic bullet or "one size fits all" answer.

I laugh as these same dj's talk about not playing certain songs at weddings because they feel they are objectionable.....

Nah... I'll play radio edits at weddings as long as it fits within the parameters given by the clients ahead of time.

Only songs that are "objectionable" are overtly sexually explicit ones (and I'm talkin' "Freaky Tales" by Too $hort explicit - "Right Round" and "Poker Face" don't make the grade, sorry!) and one's that will empty the floor.

The last category are the only one's I find objectionable (okay, and the thought of playing "Paradise by the dashboard light...").
