Found it and BOUGHT it!
Thank you for your opinions, gentlemen.

One thing I like about the ADJ Dotz Tbar: You can adjust the position of other fixtures that you attach to the top of the unit.
One thing I don't like about the ADJ Dotz Tbar: The weird look of the lens.

COB was supposed to be the new big thing in lighting. I haven't seen anything really come out in that technology since the Dotz premiere last year. That makes me hesitant. Just my .02.

Which one did you eventually get?

good luck with the dotz. Just want to say, i have a 4bar flex, 4play for most gigs and for some, i simply slide the dual inno pocket scan, it has slide through too, so all on one pole. 4play is super flimsy, i will replace it at some point. I am liking the idea of mirror ball with 4bar.

Yea .. my foreplay is super flimsy too ... :)

I like my 4Play..add a mini kinta for movement and that's the basic lighting. I have to pars i'll add at times, a laser (more for school dances) and an acrobat but it's heavy.

The mini kinta isn't super bright.

I'd like a add someething, just not sure what. The dot bar looks interesting.

I use DMX for control so a foot pedal/remote means nothing to me other than more crap to pay for and store. LOL

You could add a pair of small moving heads to your set up. They would up your game event...especially for proms, sweet 16s etc.

Another suggestion is a ADJ Starburst for coverage in all direction...and to imitate a Mirror Ball effect. It could be a light that stays on the entire time during open dancing.

saw the starburst in another thread..tempting. Have to see if my DMX supports it yet or not.

all the moving heads I've seen are expensive..a used acrobat is what i'm using now for such events.

And the programming of a moving head (acrobat on auto) might be a challenge..to get what i want/looks good..

The ceremony and the cocktail hour are set to be outside today.
Good luck with that.

Today: Partly sunny, hot and very humid; a t-storm in spots this afternoon
(It'll "feel like" it's near 110 degrees). High: 96
Tonight: A shower or t-storm in spots in this evening; otherwise, warm and humid with patchy clouds. Low: 78
***HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FOR OUR NORTHERN & WESTERN COUNTIES UNTIL THIS EVENING***
***EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING IN EFFECT FOR MOST OF THE AREA UNTIL SUNDAY EVENING***

I played yesterday from 5-midnight outside .. at the start it was 93 .. feelt like 105 .. at midnight it was 78 .. felt like 85 (according to the Weather app). I was in shorts and my core temperature was heavily elevated. Bring a cooler and hydrate .. A LOT. It's oppressive.

I bring a fan for those kinds of events..not a/c but it helps.

today I'm shooting a wedding - I HOPE the church and hall have A/C (been to few that don't) and pictures in the park about 3-4pm wil be such fun.

My house a/c was on at 7 am...expected to hit 90 here (92 yesterday) and there is a nice breeze so it feels better that it sounds on paper. And it's cloudy off and on (sucks for pictures but helps with comfort level).

Diomede Alaska is the answer to everything, except well, how to make a living. No politics to worry about, no hot weather. Just watch out for polar bears and russians. (you can walk to russia in the winter).

My house and shop haven't had the thermostat moved in years it's set at 70, whether that mean A/C or heat is required

Luckily, I did not have to stand at the station the entire time, so I was able to go into shade .. otherwise I would have ran to HD or Lowes and made one of these:
