I thought I'd bring this up just to see if anyone here has ever tried it.

Recently, I was in talks with the owner of 4 local Regal Cinemas theaters in regards to some free tickets they offer us at the beginning of each year in exchange for some hype about their theaters over the mic in the schools.

During my conversation with the gentleman he mentioned that his daughter's sweet 16 was coming up and he was interested in seeing if I would consider doing a trade off between my offerings and his.

The wager: We provide him with one of our large sweet sixteen packages for a 4 1/2 hour sweet 16, and they play a 30-45 second promo for our company in their 4 (12, 16, 16 & 18 screen) theaters from sept-december. I said YESSIR. Realistically this gig won't be very hard, I know the kid, I know the family, not the type to make things difficult and it won't cost me much more than gas and glow sticks. At the very least i'll get to take my girlfriend to a movie and see people's reactions to our promo (something similar to our dusk video i'm sure) and be like...THATS ME! Who knows, perhaps it'll spark some business, if not it'll still be cool :D:D

Return of interest my friend Im sure it will do no less than put your name in front of thousands of peoples faces which is called keeping your product regularly in potentials faces aka name, face and brand recognition. Even if only two folks book from it you made two new friendships.

If I remember right Papa either did this or thought about it a couple of years ago you should check with him to see if he got any results.

Either way it's great branding

UP...Hell I am just getting ready for bed

Theatre advertising works for top of mind awareness. I am surprised to hear about the trade, as the theaters use another ad company (usually Walden media).

Can't tell you if movie screen ads work or not
but I can say that there is nothing better than the BARTER SYSTEM!
heck, you gotta consider how much you would paid CASH for that deal!

I barter with my local tuxedo shop and do all kinds of stuff for him!
we BOTH love it!

Heck, I even worked out a deal for the mini-van I'm using!

Even better- at the end of the night, bartering makes u feel good because you've basically had fun doing what you love and you get something awesome out of it.

Here is something to consider. . . from a marketing standpoint.

Avg visitors per movie. Trends & demographics of theater patrons. Theater capacity. Time Frame, Thanksgiving & Christmas... New Years BUSIEST times in Hollywood. Also, percentage of viewers who will arrive before the trailers. And finally placement in the queue of your promotion. Way early? or Last before trailers... These are all questions you need to ask yourself and the guy. Otherwise you may not be maximizing your advertising dollar.

I'm not paying anything, kinda hard to b*tch when something is free. Especially something that is very expensive otherwise.

if you own your own gear, it's not really costing anything but time and gas!
so ANY kind of response from those ads is a plus!
even if it's only NAME recognition
and the chance to pi** off the other DJ's who may be going to the movie!
:sqlaugh:
