That sounds interesting. I see you're on mixcloud and I'm on Facebook. When you want to do this rookie?
I think it's already been done and you lost ...

And correct me if I'm wrong, the 'rules' were that the loser had to surrender their equipment and never play again.

Just cut the crap and the next event I do bring your gear. I challenge to a battle. Who ever wins gets to keep all the gear in the park. I'm not scared or worried. And yes that's my ego and arrogance talking loud! Come on over here so I can kick your azz.

You can make fun of me when you stop being scared of me and take me up on my challenge. Oh my bad you can't do that because how will you explain to your wife I put you out of business. What's really funny is you said you would have to do research. I don't have to because I already know what to do. LOL.

Looks like Mix is going to have some hefty shipping fee's. I guess he could drive it down there .. I mean Mix does have a van. I wonder how you're going to explain it to the Waffle House White Castle girl. ;)

On the bright side, Chris will also be saving you some money .. no more storage rooms. :)

I thought it was White Castle ..

If you come to the Handball Court and play you would get booed out of there because nothing you play would be music they want to hear.

Well, to beat YOUR attendance / success from the last Handball event...
all he has to do is bring 5 or 6 people...and play what THEY want to hear.

Mix, in 29 years of doing this, I have never played on a handball court. Do you even get paid for these events?

Most of us play for paying clients. Clients who contact us and want to PAY US for our services.

Mix doesn't get up until well after noon, so we can post what we want in the morning.... must be nice.

I don't read Mix's posts (iggy) and can't believe I'm about to sound like I'm defending him (I'm not) but really, don't you guys get it? Mix doesn't make money of DJing for one reason; it's a cultural/economic disparity between his "clients" and yours/mine. The group that he associates with don't have money to spend (or very little if any). They operate on a completely different mindset than most of the rest of us here. Nothing wrong with it but it's idiotic for you guys to keep preaching at him until he changes the people he's looking to for work. I think also, in considering how long he's been here without changing things for the better, it's idiotic to keep knee-jerking and offering him advice that will FOREVERMORE fall on deaf ears. It's a waste of time. Stop replying, will ya?

You think that is why we reply? Come on... haha

I would agree but for the fact he has stated his ambitions are MUCH higher. When Mix starts saying "Hey, this is my audience, and I'm stuck with them, and I'm going to pare down my gear so it makes economic sense to play for them" .. then I'll agree with you .. :)

Mix asked, "Just wanted to ask when is the last time you did an event somewhere and what was the event if you can remember?"

A wedding on March 14, and it sucks. Have had about a dozen cancellations. All of April, May and June. Weddings and Proms all gone. However, many of those did reschedule for later this fall or next year, 2021. My office rent, utilities, phone etc...…. still wanting paid even though I have had no income. My savings is going backwards quickly.

On the positive side, with all the rescheduled events plus all the ones that will come in for next year, even being a multiop, I don't think I'll be able to accommodate all the expections for the coming year.

I’d advise applying for the PPP, that will cover your rent and utilities, as well as provide income... and it’s all forgiven.

What's with assuming he would easily beat me? Now to be fair it might be a toss up and the reason is it do on the music either one of us plays and who is listening to the music we played.

crowds are used to hearing certain kinds of music or styles of music. Also it depends on your location that you're playing the music. Now I have plenty of music for a certain crowd that I would play for that certain crowd. Stuff that when I have to play I know that's a crowd that is used to a DJ only playing certain songs. Anything outside of that and they would be lost.

Now the crowd who comes to hear the DJs play at the Handball Court don't want to hear a DJ playing the same old tired stuff they have heard a DJ play over and over and over again and again. That's the deep underground house music crowd. They are open and expect a DJ to play stuff that not every DJ has played. In other words they are very open minded. I love playing for that kind of crowd when I can. That other crowd bores me to death but it's not about me. It's about what the crowd wants. I just have to remember when it comes to what I call a boring crowd act like I'm having a good time playing that music.

I was plan on going live sometime today. Now I might play a bunch of stuff that a lot of DJs on here may not even heard of. Certain other crowds hearing that stuff may easily know that stuff and love it.
