I bought 2 more items and they are sending me a check for $10.

Sir I know that light is discontinued but I happen to love that light. It's LED so no issues with bulbs. I just had to have that light again. The first one I bought got broken. Not I have 2 and they will work great for the events we normally do along with other lights we have.
Unless you're making a profit with the lighting you have, why would you buy more - especially fixtures that are old and discontinued?

Contrary to your belief, LED's have issues as well - and it usually costs more to repair / replace than the non-LED version. Considering they're no longer supported, you will not be able to get them repaired.

Anything man made can break at any time. Anything God made will never have any issues.

Well I ain't sure who made me...Or you for that matter then

Let me tell ya 'bout the birds and the bees
And the flowers and the trees
And the moon up above
And a thing called "Love"

Let me say this. I got to get ready to go. I bought those lights even though they are discontinued. What I paid for them if they stop working, just replace them. So no big deal.

As pointed out already, those are funds that you could have used to buy something relevant (and better) to today .. and not 13 years ago. You have yet to acknowledge and understand that you do not follow the very 'advice' that you give to others. This is also known as a hypocrite. People don't like hypocrites. Additionally, you have yet to profit from the events over the last year .. being that you should not be using 'your own money' to buy stuff (your own words) .. who's money paid for this?

Much like House music, very few people want a 'new' light show from the past.

If you're playing 80's house those lights are revolutionary ;)

Honestly doc whatever you buy they are going to rag you about it because that's what they like to do. If you like the lights and stand that's all that matters. do you don't worry so much about their opinions and acceptance. Non of them are going to hire you because they are Djs too lol

Whose to say dj's don't hire other dj's? I hired not one... but 2 dj's for my wedding. In fact... one was from the company of a member on a forum from years back.

I would hire people I knew personally not people off of a forum that I don't know. but that's me. So who on this forum would you hire based off their post?

I ended up knowing the owner and getting to know some of his team personally... but me learning and finding out about them initially was because of the forums (we're talking back in 2010 though). Seeing that they were local allowed me the opportunity to actually meet and interact with them at various events. Mix is local... he's about 20 minutes from my office... but if I'm not inspired to want to know or see more... well enough said.

On these forums, and of who is an active member currently, I could easily say that Ross is a DJ that I would hire for a personal event. While I have not had the luxury of meeting him personally, I do follow him and love the content he posts... and worst case I can just send my sister who lives in DC to one of the clubs/bars he plays at to do some recon lol.

That's good would you hire Mix? that's who my post was directed at? No then my point is valid lol

I don't think your point is valid, because the reasoning you used was, "no one would hire you because they're dj's", and that simply isn't true. I wouldn't hire him because I just am not motivated to do so based on what his philosophies on lots of things, including how he runs his business, or lack thereof. Then you tried to imply that one wouldn't hire someone simply from posts on a forum... in which I said, not only would I (including naming one that's current), but that 1 of my own wedding dj's was hired because I was personally acquainted with him through someone else I saw on the forums and was motivated to meet when I was younger and learning as much as I could. Like I said, mix is 20 minutes from me... If I had been intrigued and excited about the things he posted... I perhaps would've taken the steps to see him at his events and meet him as I have done others, and from there who knows.

I have booked gigs from referrals from DJ's here and other forums. From people I've never met in person.
Anyone that isn't independently wealthy should always be at least cognizant of how they come across to people. Like reading a crowd. No, you don't need to try to please everyone. But everything you type tells others about you. Do you come across as professional? Fun? Nice? Knowledgeable about the subject?
If you act differently to a group of people you feel will never be able to send business your way, you are making a mistake. Everyone can send business your way. Plus, life is much easier when you don't have to remember to "turn it on" when you get in front of someone you think can help you
