Even though it's a 1.5Ghz cpu, that seems surprisingly high.

I agree, but the only way I’m gonna know what it looks like on a 2GHz (or better) CPU is to load it on one and try it out. I will do that soon, but have too much stuff to do today.[emoji4]

I can run Mix 1.11.0 on a Vista Machine, Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T5550 @ 1.83GHz, 1833 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 2 Logical Processor(s), 4GB RAM at 6% -10% CPU with both decks playing, momemtary spike to 63% if I load a brand new previously unscanned track while the other deck plays.
To get to 100% CPU you need to be loading two brand new unscanned tracks simultaneously.

So I finished setting up the Lenovo laptop (formerly my wife’s) and I loaded Mixxx on it, along with copies of the same tracks I had setup on the Zorin laptop. The Lenovo has a dual core 2.3GHz i3 processor and it’s running Windows 10 Pro. With Mixxx playing two tracks simultaneously, or analyzing one track while playing another, the CPU utilization never gets above 24%. No blips, and analyzing tracks is MUCH FASTER; I’d guess it’s just as fast as Traktor. Next up is a test with a controller... I have a couple of options, which are on the supported controllers list.

Another consideration is your music files. What size are your files? Anything over 320kbps and you're needlessly choking your system.
I give up on this old Acer Laptop with Zorin Linux. I decided to try running Traktor on it using Wine. It loaded, but was even more of a DOG than Mixxx, and not nearly as stable. I figured that since I have run Traktor on a little Windows 10 stick PC with no issues, that it might run better than Mixxx on this Linux laptop... NOPE!!![emoji1] So now we’ll have to see if it can be used for some other purpose, or if it’s just gotta go. I was able to get the onboard sound card working, but all for naught.[emoji1]

OK... I’ll post this update in this thread since I kinda hijacked the MacBook Recall thread with my experiment with Mixxx on my old Acer Laptop (with Zorin Linux) and American Audio VMS 4.1. I guess I didn’t exactly hijack it, because it was my thread, but it’s always better to hijack someone else’s thread.[emoji1]
First of all Mixxx 2.2 is no longer Beta, so there’s that. Secondly, when I tried Mixxx on my old Acer Laptop the first time, it was version 1.???. That’s what you got when you installed it from the software manager. It never worked well enough to pursue it past just playing with it on my laptop.
A couple of days ago I tried it again. Same laptop, same OS, but version 2.0 of Mixxx. It worked better, but still had MINOR glitches (blips) when transitioning from one deck to another, or analyzing a track when playing a track on another. The Key Change feature made the application go haywire, requiring a restart of Mixxx to fix it. The glitches were minor, but enough to prevent me from using the laptop for an actual event. However, the one good thing that came out of this experiment was the use of my American Audio VMS 4.1 with Mixxx. It worked extremely well and was SO simple to setup. The MIDI map was already there with the Mixxx installation, and no ASIO drivers needed for Linux. The documentation available in the mixxx.org Web site was pretty good.
So I determined that my Acer laptop was not gonna work (for the second time) and I was trying to decide which PC (from my vast inventory) to use instead, and something POSSESSED me to try the Acer laptop for a THIRD time. I know; CRAZINESS... right? So I loaded Ubuntu 19.4 over my Zorin install on the Acer laptop, then downloaded the current installation from the Mixxx Web site... but it would not install. So I did the command line install, and it loaded Mixxx 2.2.0. I don’t like the user interface as well as 2.0, but it’s... alright. But here’s the craziest part... IT WORKS!!![emoji1] Everything runs smooth as... well, as smooth as any of my DJ computers running Traktor. This is a usable configuration. Granted, I’ve only played with it for an hour or so, but so far, no glitches. The only downside is I have to rebuild my crates and playlists, because I wiped them (and everything else on the disk drive) out with the Ubuntu install. I copied the music tracks to it from my server last night and left it running (analyzing the tracks). This morning, all the tracks are analyzed, and it’s ready to hook back up to my VMS 4.1. I have no doubt that’s gonna work, but we’ll see.
So if I get this thing working (and it’s looking pretty likely), I’m not sure what I’m gonna do with it.[emoji1] It would be a VERY compact little system to use for house parties... One controller case, laptop, microphone, and an EVOX8. My old Small System is no longer very small, so maybe this can be my Small System??? I’ll have to give it some thought. I tried MIXX some time ago, right when DJay Pro was coming out.
I went with Djay Pro and have't looked back. BY FAR, the most stable software you can use. And they released it on windows format as well.

I tried DJay Pro very recently (it came with my DDJ-Wego3) . It has some features I really like, but I can’t say I like it as well as Traktor or even Mixxx 2.x. You should really take a look at Mixxx again if you haven’t tried it within the past couple of years. If you’re using Spotify and/or iTunes, DJay Pro is a good choice. If you use Spotify, DJay Pro is about your only choice. I use neither of those, so using DJay Pro allows me to play tracks from my library, but I can’t use crates or playlists, and I use playlists a lot.
the only "Mixx" I know is some guy on ODJT. LOL Sorry, but I'm not very tecky and therefore not interested. I'm sure others will appreciate your post.
So the mousepad on my Acer Aspire Laptop no longer worked after I installed Ubuntu 19.4. It worked with Zorin, which is an Ununtu derivative. Not a big deal, since I don’t particularly care for mousepads anyway, but the little OCD dude in my head wants EVERYTHING to work right, so I decided to see if I could find a solution (nothing in the settings fixed it).[emoji1] It’s totally CRAZY what you find on the Internet... this one guy said he got his mousepad working by repeatedly pressing the Fn F7 button. I figured it was worth a shot so I tried it. Did it about 10 times... nothin’. Did it again another 10 times and VIOLA!!!... IT WORKED!!! Now I’m wondering WHO the hell discovered this fix??? How many other buttons did he/she have to repeatedly press before discovering the ONE that worked???[emoji1]

When your saying the VMS 4.1 was almost PNP with Zorin, does that include it's soundcard? Both Master and headphone output?

Yep... EVERYTHING!!!... Just now hooked it up to the VMS 4.1 again; this time with Ubuntu and Mixxx 2.2 and the setup is EXACTLY the same. Everything is working PERFECTLY!!! I’m VERY pleased!!![emoji4]
I need video support (I have a number of music videos) and I really want karaoke support in the app so I don't need a 2nd app running (though I can do that if necessary). Neither Mixxx nor DJay have video on the PC platform (DJ has it on the Mac). So for me, the only 2 I find that do all 3 are PCDJ Dex and VDJ.
I don't see Linux as an option for a device that needs to run other apps on occasion.

I CERTAINLY would NOT try running a video app on this PC (Acer Aspire). It’s dog slow at best, but it’s running Mixxx really smoothly now... no blips or glitches. Running anything else on it (at the same time) is out of the question, but it would be fine for taking to a small event (given that further stress testing goes well).
Mixvibes Cross and Serato DJ Pro also do video, although some prefer Mix Emergency (on the Mac) to Serato's integrated video. Neither do Karaoke unless you manually "unzip" the files beforehand.
I believe you have to buy the $99 video add-on for Serato (I have Serato DJ) .. Cross Pro 4 would also cost me $100 to get video. If they were superior audio apps, I might consider, though I never got in the flow with Serato. I also have Traktor, which is fine, but no video.
PCDJ was my first app and I went back to it a couple years ago. Does most things, though I would REALLY like Spotify capability like DJay Pro does. If DJay Pro had video on Windows and karaoke .. I would switch today.

Let me make myself perfectly clear on this. Under no circumstance should anyone purchase Mixvibes Cross DJ Version 4.0 or 4.1 - IMHO, in it's current configuration, it is garbage. When I sing the high praises of Mixvibes, I'm referring only to V3.4.3 or lower. Period. I can go into more specific detail if necessary.
NOT SO FAST!!!... So if Ubuntu 19.4 and Mixxx 2.2 works, what about Zorin 15 and Mixxx 2.2???... Well... It WORKS GREAT!!! I’m running Mixxx 2.2.1 on Zorin 15 and it’s running smoothly (no blips or glitches) while playing tracks on both decks AND all while analyzing the other tracks in the library. NICE!!! Now I think I’m satisfied.[emoji4]
