Have any of you using Serato run into this issue of missing files? I know they say it's a known issue and they supposedly provide a link to "repair" and re-download (which I've done twice now) but this does nothing. I have a huge amount of files that are now missing. I go through the proper steps of "relocate files" but it's like it simply can't see these files in my Music Master folder. However, when I go to this folder naturally on my computer and search for the songs Serato says are missing, I can pull them up immediately.

One thing I found curious though too is that when you do the "repair - redownload" process, it creates another zip file on your computer. It doesn't seem to replace anything so it makes me wonder if it just keeps looking in the same spot. I included a pic (below) of the several versions in my Download folder . You can see several Serato versions (including Serato Dj Lite I originally started with). Didn't know if I can delete the previous versions. Anyway, I opened up a Serato help desk ticket but when I hit submit I didn't get any confirmation that my email was received so I have no idea if it was even received. Frustrating. I have a gig to prepare for and can't get to many files needed.

An update on this. Serato did contact me and said the Relocate Files button does not work in Serato. You have to download Scratch Live and use that button to Relocate Files and supposedly it will work in Serato Dj Pro. That somehow the same root folder is used. When you download Scratch it first of all says " use at your own risk" (well THAT inspires confidence!) and when it comes up after downloading the words are insanely small. Anyhow, I did go through the process of navigating to the folder my files are in and hit Relocate Files...It does nothing. I'll keep providing updates as we go to the next steps in case someone else is struggling with this. But if anyone knows a solution, I'd love to hear your input!

I probably would have posted this in the "Digital DJs" Forum.

I'm going to assume you've seen this Thread from Serato's Forum -

The fact that something from the year of the flood is suggested as a fix is unfortunate, and shows the continued grip SSL Groupies have on this software.

Your problem is not unique, and while not a fix, the way to prevent it (once resolved) is moving back to Serato DJ Pro 2.0.5

Okay thanks. I guess when I think of the Digital Dj's folder I think of topics having to do with those who dj with no hardware but a computer. I do use hardware with Serato. I posted this in Music because it has to do with music software and MUSIC missing. Seems rather applicable to both folders, in my opinion.

Agreed, but what about my mouse?

Actually, the hardware is assumed - prior to Serato Play it was actually impossible to DJ with Serato without some kind of hardware that activated the license (another future stumbling block for them).

WOW... This thread makes me feel really SMART for choosing Traktor over Serato... even though it was totally dumb luck.[emoji1]

I’ve had serato since 2010 and never once had any issues.

TJS Do you use crates or iTunes folders? Personally I use iTunes folders, and as mentioned never any issues. Also we’re there any directory changes made at all on your end at any point? The only other thing I’m wondering is if you kept the working version of serato (instead of overwriting it)? If so does that one work fine?

His first Post shows a zipped Serato DJ Pro 2.0.4 folder.

Another really big "if". IF you have the Directory structure on your computer in the exact same format you'd want your Serato Crates, you can us "Itch Sync" to instantly rebuild everything. I use it all the time.

Yeah I’m not sure what the zipped folder is about. I haven’t seen that in my folders

I really appreciate the input here! Thank you! I do use crates for organizing genres of music and then, of course, Serato pulls in my Itunes playlists as well. I don't know how to use Itunes folders instead of crates within Serato to organize all music. I was under the impression that these were two separate things (i.e. you made playlists in Itunes and it pulls those in and then to organize other non-Itunes music...djpool music etc...with crates. In Serato, do you just create a playlist in Itunes and then instead of dragging and dropping to a crate, drag and drop it to the playlist instead? I'd be interested in how you do that Tdjtaso

I did move some music prior to all of this but as you know it shouldn't be an issue in Serato with their Relocate Files feature. I had some djpools downloading music in My Music folder on my computer and others (like BPM Supreme) putting the music in the Downloads folder. Even in my Downloads folder I had too many various music folders. To consolidate, I made one Master Music folder in Downloads and put all music there (easier for backing things up). The weird thing though is that it's not like Serato couldn't seen all the music I moved. It just isn't seeing some of it (about 80 songs).

If you look back at the attached pic I showed at the beginning of the thread, the zip files are what was downloaded by Serato when I installed it on my computer (Serato Dj Lite...then an upgrade to Serato Dj Pro...then an update when that came out to 2.1.1 ... and when they said that 2.1.1 created this known issue of missing files, they encouraged folks to download a "repair and re-download" version. That's the 2.1.1 (1) you see. I guess my question is should I be deleting all those other zip files? I wonder if that creates a problem with Serato not knowing which one to be working off of?

There has to be something unique to those 80 songs. Are they flac files, or is there an unusual character in the file name, etc.?

I can't help with iTunes, I don't use it.

IMHO, besides taking up disc space, the zipped folders are not the problem.

Them Flac files .. always running their little mouths and causing trouble. My Daddy always said .. "Don't give me any flac(k)" ...

I had this happen once in a blue moon although I haven’t The issue in a couple years. to be honest all you really need to do is download scratch live in relocate the files through that software.

issue it’s guaranteed to be resolved.

Also not sure what you’re talking about with serato creating another folder.

That ia now how it works and never has so not sure what you’re seeing regarding this whole folder thing you speak of.
