Okay, when I first got the Sushi DMX I tried to load fixtures...
and none were listed
I'm guessing because I didn't set up a cloud account?

Is there another bit of software I need to download to add fixtures?

I can only speak for MyDMX go....but in it... i open the software...and 15 thousand fixture profiles are available... the only reason to download any other software would be the profile builder software for a fixture so obscure its not in there

Cool.
Since I didn't see any in my list, I thought I was missing something.
Guess it was because I never signed up!

thanks for the post, the videos, and the advice!

Mike .. there may actually be some differences between the ADJ product and the LightRider direct product.

I did look at the true Light Rider app on my Android tablet and it had the library on it. If you go to the main menu, then "fixtures", the next menu has brand on the bottom and all the brands are there. Same with models when you select a brand. I haven't signed up for cloud on this unit

Just got delivery notice from UPS that my unit should be here tomorrow. Chris, you've got me stoked and I'm hoping this thing really will be as easy on the setup/programming as you've described. I loathe having to go thru and define movements. Am hoping this will be a lot more interactive.

My biggest question right now is, how in the world does the software cause multiple movers to go in different directions, if they're all operating on the same DMX address? I know you can put one fixture in reverse mode but it's still going to respond to the same commands that are given to that particular address. Guess I have some more learning to do.

You would need the fixtures on different addresses.

i have my movers on different adresses....

when u load in a fixture....u just click it again and it will load a second unit and give u the dmx adress to assign it... the beauty is...anytime u go to your fixtures page...all those dmx adress are listed beside your fixture...incase u need to change them in different projects....

I think I'm about to re-work my setup. I've been using a wood platform with arms that connects to the right side of my slant rack. I put one laptop on top and one underneath, on the table. I think I'm looking to mount a shelf board so that it's a couple of inches above the mixer and have it long enough to hold both laptops plus an ipad.

Okay, now that makes sense. So the next question, do you have to select each fixture and program its movements or can you select multiple fixtures as a group and apply the same type of movement (hopefully randomized between them so they're not doing exactly the same thing)? Can you select each fixture individually and put a different color/gobo/movement to each one, independently?

So...a little birdie told me that the 3 buttons on the receiver..."up arrow" "down arrow" and "D" are going to be to access 8 presets and a dimmer button.. in the event u get a venue and your tablet breaks or whatever... the receiver box by itself can get you through the night ...

i guess thats going to be some sort of firmware update in the future....because at this point those buttons do nothing

Those 18 pins on the antenna side were designed to work with contacts to run programs as well. Might be the same ones the arrows/D control.

Another question, one of the big things that has always bugged me about DMX is that scenes will pop from one to the other instead of fading from one to the other. I suspect this unit will do the same thing but would love to hear if anyone here knows how to change that.
