Another question, one of the big things that has always bugged me about DMX is that scenes will pop from one to the other instead of fading from one to the other. I suspect this unit will do the same thing but would love to hear if anyone here knows how to change that.

i know you can control the amount of fade of colors within each scene or preset... im not completely sure if you can apply that to changing between presets...

I'm kicking myself for buying that mydmx 3.0. I like their software okay but still hadn't gotten my scenes setup and working the way I was wanting and here I am, buying something completely different. Here's hoping it's as much improvement as what Chris is saying it is.
The difference is the Light Rider based software ... designed more for a mobile DJ. My DMX 3.0 software has more capability and can probably do the same things, but you need to spend a lot of time programming it. It appears this myDMX go unit can also support my DMX 3.0 software and actually needs it to use the second universe.

One trick i will tell you about that i just learned yesterday....

When you are choosing colors on the color wheel... the inside colors are for wash lights that color mix.... the outside colors are for fixtures with a color wheel like movers.... now....THE TRICK...if u do not select colors for your mover from the color wheel section (deselect them all) then your movers will change colors in time with your wash lights... they change to the closest proximity of color from the color mix section...

That will make more sense when u get the software up

By the way.... u can go ahead and download the software for free and start playing

I spent a couple months playing around and programming in show express....and honestly produced better shows by accident with the mydmx go than i did with weeks of work in show express...lol.... especially when it comes to pixel mapping and all that stuff... this thing just automatically pixel maps my WashFX's ...so cool

Actually, at first glance that sounds like a marvelous idea. I usually put the set of uplights in sound active and would love the movers to follow the same color patterns. If this works the way I'm envisioning it though I may have to change out the colorstrip-minis from my light trees. Of course I'm guessing this software might actually have definitions for the colorstrips. So far, none of my other software seems to want to play nice with them. It would be nice to keep them in the mix, especially if they'd work in tandem with everything else.

its actually ideal for that sort of fixture... it has several different pixel mapping type options in the color movement section... one of which is the knight rider car...which does the side to side effect like the KITT car used to

ps- id recommend putting your uplights in as maybe 2 dmx adresses... and stagger them.... this thing comes with a half universe ...around 256 channels i think... supposed to be able to add on more later... but for now... i would just utlize a couple channels and leave plenty of room for your movers

Okay, well that makes me feel a little better.

Mike .. there may actually be some differences between the ADJ product and the LightRider direct product.

I realize that.
But I'm sure the basic setup and operation is the same.
Just looking for some direction, I'll figure out the details once I'm headed in the right direction.

I did look at the true Light Rider app on my Android tablet and it had the library on it. If you go to the main menu, then "fixtures", the next menu has brand on the bottom and all the brands are there. Same with models when you select a brand. I haven't signed up for cloud on this unit

So, you don't need WIFI to operate it, and you don't need to sign up for the libraries....
is it possible you need wifi to GET the library?
Since there are 15,000 fixtures, I would assume the all of those parameters are not contained in the app.

Also, I thought you did need to sign up to the cloud in order for the app to recognize the interface/dongle/Sushi

You need Wifi .. at least through setup, as it needs to pull some of the fixtures from their server .. as long as your tablet is connected, you should be good (might need to do that prior to connecting to the dongle .. not sure). That's different from the "cloud" use, which appears to be to back up and save YOUR setups.

By the way, what's this app called? I just looked for "mydmxgo" in the Apple app store and the only thing it came back with is "Easy Remote"
myDMX GO

Perhaps because this is a re-branding of LightRider?
If LightRider doesn't work with Ipads ..
perhaps the Apple store doesn't offer it.

All the fixtures are inside the app on the adj unit...i do not believe they are in the light rider version ...

When I was playing with it, it had to connect externally to download a couple fixtures (non-ADJ)
