Chauvet As A Source of Information?

I have been in communication with someone at Chauvet over the past few weeks in regards to registration of my recent purchases. The person and I have also spoke on the phone. Today our conversation took a slight different turn and I got to thinking that it may be nice to have them join our Forum to answer any questions and inform us of any new products to come. NLFXPro, one of our sponsors, is one of their dealers and just as we used to have other Manufacturer's Representatives such as from EV, Grundorf etc come on and represent their products through NLFXPRO, I was wondering if we can do the same with Chauvet.

Dan, would this be possible? They would not be selling, (NLFXPRO can do that as the sponsor), they will simply be addressing any concerns, questions etc in a more hands on way. I would like to invite them to join our Forum but do not want to create a problem of circumvent any Restrictions on Vendor/Sponsor Rules. What are your thoughts? Is this a good idea?

If they are responding to questions .. they won't be unbiased .. and therefore WOULD be selling .. however minimally. Need to understand that to make a decision.

I have made several purchases from Ben because of information shared here by the Manufacturers. I purchased a Grundorf Facade in 2009 which I still use (Thanks to the Grundorf Rep) and two EV Re2 Wireless Mics thanks to Mike from EV. I know that many on here bout EV Speakers because of the discussions we used to have with Mike Ducot at the time. All those sales went to Ben.

Ben pays for the privilege of sales talk .. the manufacturer should as well, or we need to invite all of them, which may include ones NOT sold by Ben and that wouldn't be so fair to him.

The issue is usually when does a discussion turn into a sales pitch. Are they allowed to respond if someone says "I'm thinking of adding some lights .. What does everyone think of the Chauvet xxx?" Because most manufacturers are biased towards their own products, I see every answer having a sales component. If the paying sponsors are ok with that, then I'm good. I would ask a few first, as I believe a sponsor wouldn't take too kindly if a company who sells direct (instead of through say Ben) signs up and answers questions with their slant.

Steve nothing has changed, I just wanted to make sure that was the case. The Manufacturers we had before did not sell or make sales pitches. Ben was the one who benefited from them being here. We did not have Manufacturers or their reps here unless Ben or another Sponsor was already selling such products. This was way before your time here.

Dan, PM me your e-mail so that I can have the person from Chauvet contact you first. That way you can spell out the restrictions to them and they won't have to take 10 other people's word which will get blurred. Thanks!

Again, I have no issues .. just make sure if say Eternal Lighting, which NLFX doesn't carry, wants in, they get the same treatment. I'd like them all on .. just on a level playing field.

Eternal Lighting will have to be a sponsor to be able to promote their products or sell. Unless they do, they won't get the same treatment. Dude, don't you understand English or do you only read the first few words of each post?

It does matter! The person representing Chauvet will also be representing Ben. Just as how Mike Ducot used to come on answering questions for EV on behalf of Ben/NLFX. We are not doing anything different to what has been done before.

Boy, they sure have some thick skulls up in Conn. You may want to consider some Obamacare to fix that ailment!

Just remember when the next manufacturer wants to come on at no cost .. regardless of affiliation. My opinion is anyone in a capacity to sell something (directly or through a reseller), should pony up.

I just want to chime in here. When we had a problem with our first Chauvet 4Bar Tri, there was a member on here who worked higher up in Chauvet's sales/marketing (I believe it was those departments). He was able to help us and actually made sure that their customer service and repairs folks took good care of us.

Things like this are good reasons why manufacturers should be allowed on here, we as a community just need to make sure they aren't outright selling on the forums.

I still don't think it's inappropriate to ask for a dues from those who's business it is to sell to the members.

Thanks for that reminder. Also, remember that most Manufacturers do not and can not sell directly anyway. They have to refer you to their dealers namely someone like Ben. It will be astute to make sure that the Manufacturer's we choose to post be the ones supplying to our Sponsors, aye!

That's the biggest problem I have if a rep is here helping our members with issues and such I personally have a hard time pulling a sales "pitchy" post but it is unfair to our sponsors.

You don't mean if they are promoting on behalf of the Sponsors, right? The sponsors being the ones getting the benefit. That Chick from Grundorf encouraged me to buy a Facade and I did, from Ben. He was a Grundorf Dealer.
