Gemini VHF-2001M-S48 Dual Handheld Wireless System

To many ads? Support ODJT and see no ads!
for 39 dollars I would gamble. My backup is a multi diversity Gemini which uses one pair of double A batteries a yr at worst. A bit touvhy with handling noise but nice clear sound and I use it still occasionally after owning it 7+ yrs
 
The thing that scares me is the name Gemini. My sign is Gemini and I would never buy Gemini. I bought a $100.00 Audio Technica cordless mic from GC because we lost our Shure. I don't know what happened to that mic and don't give a damn. Remember the old saying. You get what you pay for.

I bought a used Carvin off EBay 3 or 4 years ago.....I believe their Nady mics. I'm telling you; I like that mic better than the A/T's that I have....less handling noise and a nicer tone. I fired the head when I put the 9v battery in wrong.....

You say whatever now but when the mic is cutting in and out? Do you tell people I'm sorry but I bought a cheap mic? Good luck with what you bought.

You could have went to GC and got dual cordless Gem Sound mics for $50.00. To me it would equal the same thing. Not very high quality mics. The 2 things to remember is buy once and forget it. 2nd if they are selling that mic for $40.00, how much did it cost? Don't they have to make a profit to stay in business? So if they are selling the mic for $40.00 how much did it cost for them to make it?

I say considering the price they couldn't have used quality parts to make this mic. Also remember any company I know of makes low budget gear, medium budget and high budget gear. It's that with some companies their high end gear is crap.
 
for $40, it's worth a shot.

I probably wouldn't use these for anything serious, but at a drunken karaoke event, or a wedding where someone important wants a mic to take out to the crowd and start singing into, it's better to give them that than my $600 sennhiesser
 
Mixx when you begin taking your business serious and truly learn something then your advice will become more credible. Have you ever owned a Gemini Mic? Mine is backup and I dont use inferior backup. Oh wait you dont have backup. Never mind. Continue with your vast knowledge as you definitely have a clue.
 
A limiting factor with VHF mics is range and susceptibility to interference. You should be good out to 30-50', based on my previous VHF mics, after which it will drop off. Try testing them with some flourescents nearby or ideally a noisy compressor (refrigerator or AC blower) ... If you don't hear whining or static, you're probably pretty safe for gig use.
 
I will say, our first wireless was a Gemini, it didn't take too long before we upgraded to Shure (and haven't ever looked back). Yes, they're not top of the line, but the one we had could hold it's own in a fight and for the price on this one, if I needed it, I'd probably jump on it too.

Talk about condescending and putting someone down! Pot calling the kettles black! Maybe you should not have even responded to his post. After all you are a moderator, you should take a back seat and be neutral instead of being on the attack and ridicule squad. Just saying!

No I should have seen Steve's post wasn't the op. Now I do understan those who choose to not buy an expensive mic and use it at any gig. For certain gigs I say it's fine. I just don't like it when some talk like some gigs are more important then others.

To me they are all important because I don't know who is there and may need to book a DJ in the future. I just take pride in every gig I do.
 
and yet you down gear when you run Yamaha speakers nothing wrong with them but they are certainly not any higher in the chain of speakers than say Gemini or Peavey or Mackie Thumps.

You're really not serious are you?! Those DSR speakers kick the Mackie Thumps in the butt all day/all year long! You must haven't heard those speakers before. Now it's one thing to buy a product because you can only have a certain amount of money to spend and it may not be a whole lot.

Now at the time I bought those speakers I got what I could afford and I'm proud of what I bought! Don't tell me you think those speakers are no better then the Mackie Thumps. If you just don't like Yamaha speakers that's one thing. You have a right to feel that way. Just watch what you say.

So far the only complaint I've gotten is from you. Everyone else likes them.

Houston we have 2 cordless mics. One is a Shure and the other is a dual Gem sound. Along with a corded mic.
 
Mixx I wasnt saying the Yamahas are bad merely that they are of the lower end crop and I have heard them and they arent too bad actually. I would take them over the others but you make comments about Gemini, and other manufacturers without any valid backing. You are making the comment merely on what others may have said granted Im not a big fan of the Thumps but would choose them before I would the new JBL Eons as I would take Behringer over Eons or Thumps. I have used all of the above at one time or another when renting for small functions.
