I'm not seeing any evidence of racism here - just your personal impressions applied to circumstances in a way that validate your own beliefs.
 
I have some questions for you. When he came up to you was the dance floor packed and did it stay packed most of the night? What did the client and their guest say about your performance? Were they happy they booked you or were they pissed off you were their DJ? Why were you so surprised they booked you a white guy to do their wedding? They had to feel you were the right DJ for their wedding. So over all how did the night go? That's what counts the most!

When i'm a guest i do my best to stay in a guest place. I'm not working and they are. I wish them the best. I have my own opinions of them when it's over. Some do a great job while others suck sH**. What sucks is if i'm there and people know i'm a DJ and the they don't like what they are doing. They will then look at me and either say why they didn't book me or can i go up and show the DJ what to do.? I let them know i have the night off and i'm chilling.

Dude, I only cover one ear when I mix - I can hear the music and whatever someone is telling me at the same time. It's not like these people are lecturing me on quantum physics. It's just small talk or a request - usually for a song I'm about to play anyway, or an idea even better then the one I was going with. I'm also never without a few ideas of where to go next. That's what experience is all about. This is not my hobby, I've been a DJ for 29 years, full time and working as often as 4 times a week. That's a different experience than doing a few weddings or parties each month, or the same bar over and over again. There more music you play, the more music you've lived through, and the more settings you perform in - the richer the tools you have at your disposal. It just keeps getting easier.

1 min 30 seconds is HALF of the entire song - are you still winding up the Edison phonograph for each new track you play? :)

I don't think it is fair to label people like that, the way you are now doing. Just as how others accuse me of putting down others who do not share my views, there are many on here who do the very same thing every day. I had an opposing run in view debate with Arnoldo on this forum but I did not hate or despise the chap for it. People who come on here and are most vocal or share a lot of things sooner or later get attacked by the masses. From the time I have been on this board I have seen many good ones come and go. Cap (who is back now), Thunder, Rox, Cie, Balanced Line just to name a few. Some may have bent the rules a bit but had it not been for the complaints on them by others, they would still be here today.

Seems to me some just want to live in La la Land. Post pretty pictures of strangers dancing and call it a Gig Report, get a pat on the back for that and have their ego stroked. They can't handle criticism.

Steve 149 I see your time coming too, mark my words, they will be attacking you because some feel you know too much about almost everything. Instead of attacking the messenger, why not listen to the message?

There are a lot of people on here who I have met, talked to on the phone and whose posts I find very interesting. We can learn something from everyones experiences when they share it. If it is not for you then just pass it by.

Another thing is that to some, things being posted may sound repetitive because they have heard it many times before...what they don't realize is that we have new people on here and on the internet hearing/reading the content for the first time. Don't be selfish!

When an individual so consistently demonstrates such a beligerant, arrogant, and pompous attitude (and those are his good traits), it behooves a TN Gentleman to "call em as I see em".
 
Canute great point. Several of those mentioned by you have had their bouts being banned from many other sites. Over here we have went beyond to keep some of them around when they cant even get into other placesbut thats cause we hope that the masses can figure how to get along. Some just cant adapt even a little bit anywhere and why they are no longer around. Mostly tho it has been by their own choice. In regards to Steve having to be careful, Its safe to say in my mind its all about approach. Knowing alot and sharing it without a pedestal approach will allow him better results than many you have mentioned. Including yourself.

So at the 1 min and 30 second mark when he approached me as you stated you would of met him at the edge of your booth so you were now away so the selection process for music has come to a halt. I'm just trying to be a better DJ Proformance by heeding your advice and applying it to what I know of the DJ business.

In the 1 min and 30 seconds the following would of happened

You - Hey how you doing my name is Proformance how can I help you.

Him - Hi I'm a DJ and you know you should be playing some E 40 to get this party going.

You - Why thank you for your advice what type of DJ are you what type of DJing do you mostly do?

Him - You know i dj a little bit of this and a little bit of that been doing it for the last 2 years. My friends wanted me to do this party but they didn't want me working at their event. Hey is that all the bass that you can get out of those speakers, You know if you give it some more bass the party will get going. What type of spearkers are those and how much do they cost?

You - Those are JBLs and they run about 800 a speaker and i will take your advice to heart and see what I can do.

Him - Hey i see your using a Lap Top I never seen that DJ Program before can I get a closer look.

You - Sure step in to my booth.

Him - Wow how would you look up E 40 in your collection on that Lap Top?

You - Simple you just type in E 40 and they will show up in this box.

Him - Hey I like that one right there can you play it next.

You ever have a Photographer say they only need 1 min and 30 seconds for another picture and what they really mean is photographer time which is really 5 minutes.
 
I can name that tune in 1 note ...
