Venue has a large banner of another DJ company on their fence in front of their facility. WWYD?

Do you blacklist the venue and not look back?

Do you still consider and/or accept booking and not worry about the possibility of being associated with another DJ company?

Other?

Ask why it's there .. maybe it's a spot up for sale .. sort of like they do at Little League fields.

What if you don't want to advertise like that? :triwink: (There is also a banner from a caterer that's been there for about a month.) ;)

I guess it depends on what the business potential is .. still might be worth a check on the cost and if it's available.

Place a Banner on your Facade. Guests will remember it longer than the one outside.

The banner is already in place by another company. Do you risk even the slightest chance that you might be mistaken for them?

Who cares? Is your company a Million Dollar Corporation with Millions to lose? Again, place a Banner on YOUR FACADE.(Thats what I said above)

Any chance it could just "disappear" for the duraration of your show.:triwink:
But seriously, I wouldnt worry about it.

Damn! You owe me a new keyboard!

It's been about 2+ years since we've been in there and we don't have an event booked there until October. Not worried, just curious on how others would perceive and/or react to this. ;)

Like Little Ricky said, "it's a Chat Board." xf:D

a "professional" chat board :triwink:

I would likely make certain my clients and guests see the difference. I cant force my clients to choose venue or any other vendor but I can make mine shine above and make sure they know my name. If they mistakenly inquire with the banner boys I would be sure to let them know that the banner boys company cant play BALL Like Coreen and Kirby can.

You will be surprized at what little amount some people will take to allow someone to place a banner on their fence. One company in my area did that to a fence at a busy intersection and what he was paying the owner of the home was copies of his RPM music subscription. Do you have a picture of the area in front of the banner? Is there room to park your vehicle there? Ask the owner if you can cover the sign while you are DJing there.

I know the feeling i had when one of my competitors that has a photo booth was hired to do the photo booth in the same room i was DJing in and he had his DJ business cards there on the photo booth table.

I would not pass on the oppurtunity to DJ at the venue because of the banner.

I would inquire about it but at the same time it wouldn't stop me from playing there especially if I knew up front. I would have papers on each table with music by ABCDJ or something like that

I'd want to at least park my van in front of the banner.

Gail and I do not have a banner of any size. Never did, and never will. At our gigs we do have an letter paper sized lexan holder with a card tray. That's it. IMHO, banners are tacky.

Best,

Paul

Yeah, if it's still there in October (when we're there) I'll ask about it. We haven't been in the venue for over 2 years. Which is about the time we started bumping our rates up. ;)

May have to break out the "request cards" that we used to use in the olden days.

Then where would I park mine! :p

We have banners but never use them at a reception. Those are for trade shows, charity gigs, etc.

Since we've started using our facade at almost every event all of our business cards are behind it with us. I do have my "logo" shirt on.... will that work? :monconfused:
